The Death of Master Chief *UPDATE!*

So I was reading several articles on the internet that said Steve Downes, the legendary voice behind the Chief, would like to see Chief die at the end of Halo 6. He wanted "a hero's death." So just out of pure fun, how do you, the wonderful Bungie community, think the Master Chief should die? Any idea, badass or funny, would be accepted. Thank you! And I would like to place my opinion. After reading several of the posts, I've come to a conclusion. Chief is with himself. The rest of his allies and Cortana are watching from orbit in a ship. Cortana stays behind because she is too unstable and could hinder Chief. So Chief goes and destroys the threat, blowing up the place as he does it. The people inside the ship believes he's dead. Humanity builds a monument to Chief. At the end of the game Cortana narrates how most people believe he's dead, but there has been rumors that marines have spotted a shadowy, armored figure lurking around and how entire Innie groups have disappeared w/o record of any UNSC intervention. Then there's a scene where Chief is in a small stealth ship along with a few other surviving Spartans. One Spartan tells him that he/she has intercepted a distress call coming from some planet and Chief says "Alright. Punch it." And they go into slipspace. This would be a satisfying ending to me, knowing that Chief is a living legend, but is silently watching over humanity. [Edited on 08.29.2012 6:09 PM PDT]

I feel like if Master Chief doesn't die in an epic combat situation, he's going to be honorably discharged for old age. Then he's going to be old grandpa chief, sitting on his porch yelling at kids saying "I've killed thousands of bloodthirsty aliens! Don't think I won't do the same to you whippersnappers!"

        • I really want Chief to live, but if he had to die, he dies one way. He is staring down his fate as a hero would. He is given a choice to save himself, or save humanity. He remembers what Cortana did for him at the end of Halo 4, a little flashback happens. And he says under his breath, "I've waited for this for a long time." Stands up, removes his helmet. A closeup on his face, a smile cracks. Cuts to a closeup on his eyes, a gunshot is heard, he closes his eyes and a lone tear falls. Black. Cut to a scene of his funeral, and a memoriam of his world saving achievements.

            • He should die the classic explosion way. Like a REALLY BIG explosion and the someone will say in the comm-radio: -Chief? Chief?! Chief, do you copy??!! And then the screen will fade, an epic death, but still nobody knows wether he's alive or not. In that way, people that wants him to die can say he dies, and people who wants him to live on can say that he survived, simple, yet epic.

              • I think there is a place for the Master Chief if the UNSC could see the opportunity, but how much of the UNSC "old guard" is still in command? What happened to Admiral Hood? What about the veterans the Chief actually fought next to? Johnson, Miranda (not a great tactician tbh) and Cortana are gone, as is that one unnamed Aussie Marine who was always there with us. The Arbiter is far away, Hood seems to be MIA, and the Chief never seemed to know that many (non-Spartan IIs) to begin with. Does the Chief really have any "friends" left? Dr. Halsey is still around, but she has always been cold and detached. She seems to have played her role and is only kept around to be grilled for info about the Spartan II program and piss off the officers of the UNSC Infinity.

                • Obi Wan Kanobi style he trains a young warrior and than in an epic fight seen to save the young warriors life he dies but doesn't truly die for his essence his words and actions drive him to do even greater than what chief did master chief has already accepted the mantle of responsibility he is already at his peak and made his mark on history let him die with honor like a great and beloved Jorge did or as Noble Six did saving the life and last remnants of the human race let him fade into legend one does not simply fall from greatness they are stripped of it if you insist on making chiefs struggle continue at least break him down make him a new better chief make us more tied to the 343i chief like we where when bungie made him built him designed I realize there forced to stick with the normal palate of CHIEF but what's so great about chief is that he was nothing and became the savior of mankind make us fall in love with him show us his human side if your gonna make a static character I beg of you at least make the story financial and for -blam!- sake stop adding enemy's we've been fighting the covenant for god knows how long now deal with that problem first

                • I think that there should be like a little clip at the end where blue team enters MC's house and find him just laying there dead with a new enemy lying beside him also dead so that the next halo will explain MC's death.

                •
Posted by: Lobster Fish 2 I don't want him to go out in a lame way, such as Bane in TDKR. I want him going out in a way that is dignified and has meaning. Sorta like Mass Effect 3's ending but handled much, much better. I definitely wouldn't mind the end of chief after 6 main Halo games.
So, I don't actually think Bane truly died. That's just me though. OP: I would like to see MC die, if he has to die, go balls outs rampage.

Fading into society, and conforming to the modern times of his day. He has saved the galaxy more than once now. He needs a rest. He needs to live a normal life. He needs the satisfaction of knowing what it is like to be human. He has been "Super-Human" for far too long now.
All he knows is war. How can one live a normal life if one was trained to kill from a very young age? [Edited on 12.23.2012 3:56 PM PST]

That way, we have 9 games of varying concepts and stories. They could end it with a 10th game. A massive joint effort between Bungie, 343i, and the third group. Am I the only person that wants this?
That would take a while but i would definetly play it.
