By workout I mean running, weight lifting, cardio, stretching, etc. not necessarily after doing all of those but after doing at least 1.
I've been doing a little bit of research on which is better and people seem to like both. I found that medium temperature water is almost useless besides skin cleaning. I found that hot water increases blood flow, but cold water causes less blood flow and numbs the pain.
So I'm thinking it's best to take a cold one immediately after and then taking a hot one maybe 45 min to an hour later?
What do you guys think? I'm not really sure which is more beneficial or whether or not I should take 2 separate ones. Any help is much appreciated.

Try both, and see how your body recovers each time. Everyone's body is different. [Edited on 08.05.2012 1:08 AM PDT]

Eating a bowl of nails ....without any milk.

An ice bath after a grueling workout is always nice.

Depends, are you getting naked?

Hot because you want to keep your muscles relaxed to stop them seizing up after working out really hard.
-
I'd say your best bet is to go from Hot to cold over a period of about 10 minutes. Hot relieves muscles and allows blood to flow but cold will feel better and help with pain.

Cold makes the body cool down too quickly and could lead to injury. That makes the answer pretty clear.

I always start cold to cool off and then go hot.
-
I prefer hot. Cold makes me tense up, which, in me, can cause cramps.
