Like the septagon and the fist with the thunderbolts. What's the story behind them?
Also why did they choose blue black and grey as their main colors (correct me if I'm wrong)

Sounds like a good question for the mailsack? I like the black background because it's easier to see at night. [Edited on 07.02.2012 9:14 PM PDT]

They probably just drew cool stuff until one stuck with the team.

In honor of its dedicated Community, Bungie Studios created the "Septagon," a symbol signifying the pillar of Bungie Studios being supported by the many surrounding pillars of its Community members. The name for the Seventh Column coming from the seventh column on the periodic table being the Halogens. [Edited on 07.02.2012 11:09 PM PDT]
I always believed Seventh Column derived from fifth column, which is a group of people who undermine a larger group such as a nation from within. This fits when you consider they have 7 Steps to World Domination, with the seventh step being, "Take over world, shoot enemies into the sun with giant slingshot." Maybe I'm mistaken though. The logos are likely designed by the Art department at Bungie and presumably go through many drafts before finally settling on a winning design.

When the Webmaster gets really drunk, they hand him some colored pencils and a few sheets of paper.

What does the fist with the thunderbolt mean

Their graphic(?) designers come up with things like this. Trial and error, bouncing ideas off one-another, etc.
