During the H4 reveal at E3 when they show john is ambushed by above. The knight's face? opens and you can see a skull like face .
I'm a total noob at halo facts :(

I'm guessing inorganic. The watchers don't look like they would be organic.
Posted by: PhilWithFear
Posted by: flamedude I'm still having a hard time figuring out why a robotic weapon system would need a glowing human skull..... be it physical or holographic..... why would that ever be useful to a weapons platform?
Possible to intimidate foes? It may take on the guise of the facial skeleton of the enemy it is fighting to try and scare them. There's another thread that explains this idea quite well.
I love how designers add things to make stuff look cool, and its the fans who go into lengths to explain the inconsistency. masseffect3*ahem*

So is it that they are good or bad???
-
They are AI promethean defensive !!MACHINES!!, created by the first Didact and his prometheans before he was killed by Master Builder Faber for losing the sword and shield conflict.

I read in another thread that their "faces" are hard light, and they can reconfigure them to intimidate foes. Seeing as the human-forerunner war happened, the forerunners could have programed the knights with human data among the others.
-
To quote Josh Holmes: 'They are sort of warrior units, that are forerunner in origin, but they are not the forerunners, organic forerunners.' So, why didn't he just say machines?
-
Weirdly though, they have some sort of Human skull inside them, don't know what that is...
-
"Watch out Chief! they look like some sort of Defence AI"...
-
"Its definitely not organic!" -cortana during the demo
-
I think of them like the Cybermen. Outwardly synthetic, but requires organic components like a heart, a brain and a nervous system. You can see what looks like a set of small organic arms underneath the synthetics weapon arms. So maybe. We will see though.
Posted by: Sigma617 At first I thought they might be Prometheans themselves. But I now think that they are the tools of Prometheans. Maybe Autonomous Drones. From what I can gather, these are constructs of the Promethean, not the Prometheans themselves.
Prometheans are bigger, and it would be practically impossible to take one down.
Posted by: flamedude I'm still having a hard time figuring out why a robotic weapon system would need a glowing human skull..... be it physical or holographic..... why would that ever be useful to a weapons platform?
Maybe because they're part Forerunner? If they became synthetic beings like that Lifeworker in Primordium and Chakas over the last 100,000 years, some of their form may have carried over. Forerunners did look very human; just a guess, but they could be cyborgs.
Posted by: Thomsn0w They are artificial intelligence constructs in a biological/synthetic shell.
Posted by: flamedude I'm still having a hard time figuring out why a robotic weapon system would need a glowing human skull..... be it physical or holographic..... why would that ever be useful to a weapons platform?
Not a clue. Psychological warfare?
What about that orange liquid like substance that came out of the knight when it released a watcher . Is it plasma?

Them being constructs made by the Prometheans makes more sense to me, aren't they ment to be huge, around 4 metres tall? They weren't in the footage we saw.
-
They look like hybrids between organics and in-organics, similar to the Reapers in Mass Effect. I wonder if we'll get to see War Sphinxes in Halo 4...
-
^^yeah realdomdom that's a good idea too bro
-
Synthetics?
Posted by: flamedude I'm still having a hard time figuring out why a robotic weapon system would need a glowing human skull..... be it physical or holographic..... why would that ever be useful to a weapons platform?
It's probably to make you think that they are indeed organic (provided you don't have advanced means of observing, like MC).

I think the word you're looking for is synthetic. :p The Crawlers, Knights, etc (basically anything that isn't Covenant) in the E3 demo are all synthetic enemies.
Posted by: DorkLord54 Cortana states during the demo that the Knight is not organic and is an automaton.
Oh I didn't catch that.
