I mean it's not a big deal, but if a gun sounds cool then it's funner to use in game, which a little bit more enjoyment to the game. If a gun sounds stupid or weird, then it's not quite as fun to use, and in some cases, might end up just outright annoying the player.

Gameplay > realism.

This is ikely something close to what it will sound like, but all they have to do is go in and turn a few nobs to get a different sound.
