  • [quote][b]Posted by:[/b] Yoozel I'm going to throw this out there even though I know it's probably beaten. [b]Never[/b]. With the gross abuse of even linking that has been displayed around here the last thing I want to read through is hundreds of posts of genitalia or what not. I firmly believe this site is better off the way it remains with the potential to give users some perks to work towards but nothing of the means of remote freedom to do as they please. Remember where many believe they will be responsible it only takes one to screw it up for all. [/quote] Yeah this is pretty much my opinion as well.

  • [quote][b]Posted by:[/b] dazarobbo Possibly, but that's why [url=http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Content_delivery_network]CDNs[/url] exist, so images themselves aren't stored/served in the same place as the forum data.[/quote] Gotcha. That would keep my scenario from happening. Still, I don't think the vast majority of members on the site can be trusted with embedding privileges. Really makes me sad that that is the case too.

  • [quote][b]Posted by:[/b] Khirna Images take up more space than text. I assume the site's servers can only handle so much traffic, and since everything since the dawn of time on this site is documented, everyone spamming pictures (which is what I think would happen in first month) would start slowing the site down. Again, I do not claim to know of these things, that just seems to be the logical conclusion in my mind.[/quote]Possibly, but that's why [url=http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Content_delivery_network]CDNs[/url] exist, so images themselves aren't stored/served in the same place as the forum data.

For instance: - How old is an account? - Does the account have any blacklists or warnings? How many? How many within a period of time? - How many good reports did the account make? How many bad reports did the account make? Do good reports outweigh bad reports by a certain percentage? • Why give the trolls something they can really just destroy the site with? Bad links/text walls are bad enough, embedded items would be horrible. I'm not a server nut or tech wiz by a long shot, but I would think that the site would suffer after a month or two of people being able to embed because threads on this site never disappear. That's the negative. I truly do not believe there is a positive. People who want to post images just link directly to them now anyway and that works just fine. Some things are better left to the superusers.

  • Well I would say it would be the Legendary members. If you look at it like the story of The Three Bears, Legendary members are in the middle so therefor we are [i]just[/i] right. • Interesting... [quote][b]Posted by:[/b] evilcam Of course. If by "we" you mean users who will [u]be hired Bungie[/u] and added to the webteam. Which, admittedly, is probably not going to be all that many of us. [/quote] I do not believe that we will ever have the ability to post images. We are too immature and those who seem immature are just good at hiding their immaturity.

  • We had the ability once..for a night..due to a glitch. May have been the worst experience I've ever had on this website. Due to the immaturity of others, we cannot have nice things.

  • [quote][b]Posted by:[/b] JBSpudster I sure hope not. I think what happened in mid June of 2010 speaks for itself on this issue... I would however like to see a BB Code update, or something, where users could embed their own fileshare items into thread starting posts. That is assuming that Bungie's next game will have a file sharing system (hopefully). Anyways, they did that with the old Halo 3 Files Forums for screenshots, so I don't imagine that it would be very hard to do for their next game.[/quote] I actually like this idea a lot.
