So, about a week before the release of the highly anticipated mass effect 3, it's withdrawn.
I walked into my local Gamestation with my friends and asked if they will be doing a midnight release for Mass Effect 3. The answer was no, and the manager told me the are no longer stocking the game at all. My deposit would be refunded in the form of a voucher for the store. The other store in my town (Game) is doing the same.
Not only am I annoyed because I preordered a few months back, but I had £50 saved on a reward card specifically for this game (which CANNOT be used online or anywhere else). So, about a week before the release of the highly anticipated mass effect 3, it's withdrawn. :C
So until they start stocking again, I won't be purchasing this game. If they do, I won't be eligible for any pre-order bonuses, which sucks too.
Is this a national thing (I'm from the UK)? HAs this happened to anyone else? I'm really confused at the moment.

I'm not sure you can use anymore than £7 at one time at game or gamestation. (Reward card.) [Edited on 02.29.2012 4:52 AM PST]

GAME owns Gamestation, EA pulled ME3 from GAME.
-
Sounds like it was the stores fault. Did you ask why they wont be stocking the game?
-
You could try Pre-orders from Australia. It's the same region of the discs.

Game and Gamestation are continuing to have trouble negotiating stock with teh peeps who sell them stock. Meanwhile whatever customers they have left will move onto more stable providers of kewl games. They're sinking like a brick. typo'd negotiating [Edited on 02.29.2012 4:58 AM PST]

Supermarkets and online have a real chance of bringing down GAME and HMV for good.

Lol, Game.
-
I've already Re-Preordered the game at Shopto.net. This is actually a good thing, you save £5 buying online or in my case £3 because I payed for delivery
Like most things bad about games, this is EA's fault.
It's NOT EA's fault. EA don't want to sell them stock because they feel GAME simply can't sell any more. Game have had massive money problems for about 2 years now and it's getting worse for them.
Posted by: Agusta1 You could try Pre-orders from Australia. It's the same region of the discs.
If your fine with paying 2-3 times the price. I pre-ordered ME3 online: AU$45 and a free copy of Dragon Age: Origins. EB Games (Australia's main game retailer): AU $88 and a free inflatable omni blade. [Edited on 02.29.2012 5:20 AM PST]

This is just absurd... So looks like I won't be getting it at all until someone trades their copy in at the store. What game(s) do you think I should get in the meantime?
-
It looks like Nintendo won't be selling them stock either and Sony are marking their games with stickers so they get their stock back if GAME close
Exactly. So who's next to not supply them? Microsoft?, Activision? It's the employees I feel sorry for. More high unemployment figures. [Edited on 02.29.2012 5:20 AM PST]

The fact GAME is only providing store credit suggests they've got cash flow problems. Troubling... [Edited on 02.29.2012 5:22 AM PST]

Publishers will be quite happy that a retailer selling PRE OWNED games has gone down the pan.
The fact GAME is only providing store credit suggests they've got cash flow problems. Troubling...
[Edited on 02.29.2012 5:29 AM PST]

It's a shame. SSX will be the last EA game that GAME and Gamestation stock
-
Game is royaly screwed. The average is customer looking for fifa is going to get turned away and is going to taint their experience of GAME
-
Well this sucks. I've got the Collectors Edition pre-ordered there. Thanks EA ! /sarcasm
Game is royaly screwed. The average is customer looking for fifa is going to get turned away and is going to taint their experience of GAME
But would it of made a difference? GAME sold alot of copies of MW3 and hoped it would steady money problems. It did completely nothing for them and they still went negative in terms of profits. The biggest selling piece of entertainment EVER in history and Activison sold over $1 billion dollars and GAME STILL couldn't make a profit. Writings on the wall for them. Is this only happening to the UK?
-
I'm buying the collector's edition off play.com tomorrow.
-
I also pre-ordered from Gamestation, I should probably go and find out if it's OK...
Posted by: AndyDaRoo I also pre-ordered from Gamestation, I should probably go and find out if it's OK...
it is not Gamestation is owned by GAME and they are also cancelling preorders

Play.com and Zavvi.com, Amazon.co.uk and ShopTo.net are apparently all going to be stocking the Collector's Edition now. I've already re-submitted my CE pre-order with Play.com.
