Problem with Halo PC [Solved]

I tried using Google to find a solution but I couldn't find one. When I start Halo and the menu loads, the game appears to minimize itself but I can still hear the main menu music and sound effects when I move my mouse around. The only way I can exit the game is if I use alt + F4 which closes it, causing a gathering exception data dialogue box to appear. I haven't played this game in a while though, probably not since last summer so I'm thinking it might be a driver issue. I have a genuine copy of Halo CE, a GTX 460 video card with 290.53 drivers and my current OS is Windows 7. Any help would be much appreciated. In the mean time I'll probably try re-installing Halo... again. [Edited on 02.13.2012 11:43 AM PST]

 •
Posted by: Zetren Right click on your shortcut and add the following to your Target Line: " -safemode"
Hey that worked, thanks! :D I think Halo was just have trouble running at my desktop resolution (1600x900). I was able to start it in safe mode and bump the res down. After I started Halo again without the safe mode command it ran perfectly. Is there any command lines that I can add to the shortcut that will make it run in a specific resolution? Actually I'm not even sure if the res was the issue any more, that's weird. Well at least it works now. [Edited on 02.13.2012 11:45 AM PST]

 •
Posted by: DusK
Posted by: Zetren arent 290's still in the beta stage?
Yeah, but I have those beta drivers and a very similar video card as his and Halo's working fine for me.
I second this, I'm using the most up to date drivers including the beta drivers and I've had no issue's at all. Well, apart from the darn FOV fixers not working for Halo PC... My 560ti is artifacting so i'm RMA'ing it, will check to see if Halo PC still works once i get it back.

 • Right click on your shortcut and add the following to your Target Line: " -safemode" If the game works while in safe mode works, replace it with the following. " -useff" Perhaps its a bug with your video card drivers, arent 290's still in the beta stage?

 •
Posted by: the omega man117 Go into the NVIDIA Control Panel and set AA for Halo to enhance instead of force.
Enhance only works if the program itself supports AA. Halo Combat Evolved does not. Turn AA to application controlled.

 • Sounds similar to a problem I had with Oblivion. Even after installing the game again it would do it. It always seemed like it was trying to open on another monitor that wasn't there. I just stopped bothering then after a while it worked again. Hopefully someone will be able to help you.
