Installing Halo 2 Vista on a windows 7 computer was awful. First it wouldn't let me play the game because I didn't install the GFWL client. The game failed to tell me that I actually needed that in order to play. After installing the client and getting the account set up I ran into another problem.
The game told me I had an update, which I decided to install. The update somehow deleted a couple files and made the game unplayable. After getting the files back everything seemed to be working fine for awhile. The update apparently didn't work and I was prompted to install the update again. I refused the update because I didn't want to deal with the hassle again. The whole installation process took about two hours.
When the game finally started it screwed up the resolution of my screen. The screen resolution couldn't be fixed unless I restarted my computer.
Now I know why so many people said to not buy the game. It was the most frustrating installation I've ever dealt with so far.

343i is shutting down the H2 Vista servers on February 15, so you'd better play the hell out of that game in the meantime.

Edited by ZealotSG: 1/17/2013 7:44:20 AMYou know there's an option to play it in a window... Also, to fix the screen resolution, Ctrl+Alt+Del and end process via task manager. You could also press the Windows key. I have Halo 2 Vista, it's pretty worthless but it's not nearly as bad as some other ports *cough*Dark Souls*cough* not to mention I've found ways to tolerate it.

Wait till you try PLAYING it.

We should get a Floodian game night going for H2Vista...

I looked into how to install H2V before attempting it since I've read that you have to do certiain things. All I had to do was update the GFWL and the TU for vista and I was golden.

I never went through those problems with my old laptop and it would work fine on this one, but aparently I dont have the 128mb of graphics o run it, but i can run portal, tf2, planetside 2, oblivion and a bunch of other games just fine... Sense made=0

Should have gotten Xbox Connect instead.

I remember doing that...and trying to find that update to make it work. I was playing it today and actually had more fun than I've had playing H4 since its release.

Add a #HaloPC tag.
