CAN WE GET AN UPDATE ON WHEN HALO 2 FOR PC IS COMING OUT?????????? AND WINDOWS VISTA?? bungie and microsoft need to work a little bit faster!! EVERYONE WITH HALO PC IS WAITING FOR HALO 2 PC!!!!!!! Glad I found this post it ansered some questions but I still have a few. With Vista beling delayed what looks to be at least to the 1st qtr of 2007 or even longer will there be a demo or beta version for us that are right now beta testing Vista? I do have to say with the beta of directx10 on it right now my games perform a lot better then when I run them in XP64. Also with Halo 2 with there be a 32bit and 64bit game play? I have to say with HL2 running in 64bit mode I like the look and performance of it better then the 32bit. I guess my last is any idea what class of video card we will need for this game. I know right now there are no cards that are certified yet for directx10 but I did know that what you thing you might be looking at. Right now I am rating over a 5 with vista with my 6800 but I am not sure if I will need an upgrade or not. I am thinking I will though. Thanks for letting me know.

You guys(Bungie) Should release a demo before the final release, unless it comes out the same time Vista does, mainly cuz it would only made sense, they did for Halo PC, why not for Halo 2 Vista? that way i can see how my beastly comp can handle the game, of course it would run the best with the DX10 cards, but those would have to come out first. but yeah, a Demo would be great, btw, you guys should release some sort of video on the progress with the game, i have been very interested, i'm sure it'll look a lot like the Xbox version, but some sort of gameplay would be nice, kinda like the E³ 2004 demo show.

SWEET!!! The PC I built for Halo PC works for VISTA!!! This IS pimp! I spent a half an hour yesterday just saying, "WOW"! Did I say Windows Vista rocks? Cause' it does! Wow. If you think your computer can hold it, I would suggest trying it! IT IS BAD! WOW! Please, please, please... Get that Xbox 360 controller to rock on this game! Please! DEDICATED SERVERS! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! and best of all... *!*!*!*!*!*!*!*!*!*!*!*!*!* _ _ MAP EDITIOR _ _ *!*!*!*!*!*!*!*!*!*!*!*!*!*!* --------- Okay, if you download Vista, I would suggest a couple of things. Check your compatibility!!! If you opt for the download, then DOWNLOAD TWO different copies if you only have ONE computer, or just spend the ten bucks for the copies to be sent to your home. When you burn the copies on your DVD burner, burn them at the slowest speed AND as the correct file type. Mind the directions from Microsoft on this point, do a little research on the internet to make sure you know how to burn the correct file type. My first download had errors in it and did not allow me to install the OS on my system. [Edited on 6/18/2006]

so it will only come out for Vista then... -thinks for a while- ... -still thinking- ... -tired of thinking- alright I got tired of thinking now, so I guess i'll be forced to buy a Vista. Then again I did wanted to get the 360 for Halo 3...... MAN DESITIONS!! DESITIONS!! Am getting a new job pretty soon, hopefully I will be able to save some $$ to buy a 360 and a Vista. (my pc sucks anyways, but it has helped me alot!!! I'll miss it!! but then I won't know what to do with it after I get a new one.)

I thought you could use the USB or wired version of the 360 controller on a PC. Dunno if it comes with software or if its plug and play though. Seems like software would be in order though.

hey frankie,Jo Clowes didn't mention anything about voice over ip for Halo 2 Vista besides this little hint in the What is Live Anywhere question answer: [i]manage your Gamertag and account details,[/i][b][u]and access Live messaging services.[/u][/b][i] As with most Live games you will be able to find your Friends no matter where they are and join them in your favorite games. In some [/i] I know that many fps games on pc still don’t really have a voip quite like halo 2 does on xbox most people still use ventrillo and teamspeak over the (for example battlefield 2) built in voip in the game. What I'm asking is will Halo 2 Vista have the same or better voip than the xbox version?

Totally agree. I used to be a die-hard Xbox fan but now Im startaing to see the light of the PC (as long as I have a controller [best invention ever]) Im a little skeptical of downloading Vista Beta though... Ill let my friend try it out first

I admire the fact that you all who use the XBOX feel "devoted" to Bungie enough to -blam!- about the fact that a corporation (Microsoft - Which OWNS Bungie) is trying to make money and continue being a corporation. Don't forget that before MS assimilated Bungie, Halo would have been released for the Mac! And us PC users would still be the second ones in line for a great game. Ever since the release of the XBOX 360, the XBOX users have to put up with the fact that you need to either fork out four-hundred bucks to upgrade, or shut up and take what the gaming gods give you. For PC users we expect to put that much and more as far as upgrading to accomodate the new PC-gaming engine that Halo 2 will encorporate. I am praying that GEARBOX has NOTHING to do with this next PC Port and that Microsoft will get smart and put a cooperative play mode in it this time. So, to all you "XBOX" gamers? MS thanks you for buying their product but wants you to upgrade or you will cease to exist. It's about time the PC user got something special. We've been putting up with cheaters WAY longer than you Live! players because its a known fact that cheaters can go to FAR greater lenghts on the PC rather than a lowly XBOX. P.S. - I own both suckers. XBOX-360.

everybody talkin about those new maps that are coming out for the pc version of halo 2 and want them to come out for the xbox version forget it that probably not going to happen what probably will happen is that those new maps may come out for halo 3

this sounds pretty cool will this halo 2 be made by gearbox like the pc version of haloCE and will there be differences in the muti player part of the halo 2 like in the pc version of haloCE o yea and another thing it would be pretty sweet that in halo 3 u can put the map editor so the people on live arent missing out on wat the pc people are getting ( hope u pc gamers out there like halo 2 as much as us live players ) [Edited on 6/15/2006]

Ok. Thats really nice. But you see, we PC gamers kept playing the crappy version of halo 1, despite its bad netcode. Not to mention we played for a long time before we ever got the map editor we got promised. Oh and lets not forget all the aimbotters we PC users had to put up with. The only reason some of us didn't put up with the xbox is because we were waiting to get what we rightfully deserved. We never got it. Infact, only some of us will get it. And calm down! Halo 3 is for xbox 360. Don't have a 360? Go complain to MS just like you complained about not having a pc. Some of us would have to pay over 800 dollars to play halo 2 and you played billions less. Also, stop making it look as though you are playing to support bungie. You aren't doing them a favour by playing, atleast not intentionally. No, you are having fun with a game that we PC gamers never got and some will never get. GG acting selfish.

Wow, I read that update, and am happy to see they are remaking halo pc. Dedicated servers, text chat, game browser, and a map editor (Think, Halo Custom Edition). I am happy they learned from halo PC. I hope they add the flamethrower, rocket hog, FRG, and do a couple remakes of the halo pc maps too. That would rock.

There is almost no chance of there being more maps on XBOX. Bungie and MGS are already converting the H2 maps to PC. If they added any new maps from H2 Vista to H2 XBOX, then they would have to convert them the other way. It is likely that by the time H2 Vista is out that Halo 3 will be out or out soon. It would make no sense for them to add new maps to Halo 2 by then. Would you really want them taking time away from Halo 3 anyway to add more maps to Halo 2?

So a few new maps will be released with the editor, right? Will these maps be released for the xbox version over live? I don't expect or encourage another map pack, but your community will love you all the more with the addition of even more maps, as long as they don't suck. *coughreliccough*

The Game is going to be on Vista not just a PC. Not every single person with a computer Has windows Vista. ANd Why would someone go out of there way to get windows Vistat when they could just buy an Xbox.

I think Vista Looks stupid. Why work on that when you could be making Halo 3 come out sooner or work on New maps for Halo 2 or make Halo 1 an Xbox arcade game. This just seems like a waste of time
