As long as we're discussing the map and not asking for downloads and tags, it's fine. I'm posting it here to garner feedback from the community. Their feedback was crucial on parts of Jackal Creek a few months ago, and they also helped other maps that went into matchmaking. I don't understand the initial vibe coming from this thread. If players don't want good maps to play on, then forgers can stop forging and go play other games. Players have to realize that what's online right now doesn't represent Forge's potential. People with good maps have been testing and designing them for months and as a result the experience is way more polished than those in matchmaking. This map has already been tested 10 times and it was only completed yesterday night. That's more tests than every single community slayer map from round one. You don't just test with a small group of friends and then put it on your file share. That's going to make your map good for your group of friends, but the masses are the ones who will be playing it more. Their opinion is what matters, and you need to collect it and make the appropriate changes from it. If you have no intention of getting it online, then that's fine. But we build these maps for multiplayer. Alpha testing is what we do after we build it. We test it internally and then make modifications to geometry, weapons, and spawns. This phase of testing is crucial because it helps us to figure out what weapons need to be on the map, where they need to be, and how geometry needs to be changed, etc. Beta testing is when we put it on our fileshares for other players to download and test with their friends or run around and give us suggestions. The only thing we change during Beta testing is spawns and weapon timers. Keep in mind that most of the maps in Matchmaking right now--including many of the Forgetacular winners--have only been tested a handful of times (if even at all). We test our maps hundreds of times for weeks to ensure that they are high-quality and fun to play on every time. This has nothing to do with "popularity" or "hyping up a map". We are delivering a quality forge map for the community and we want them to be a part of it. Unless you'd rather play on maps like those in Community BTB, which (no offense to their creators) weren't well constructed. [Edited on 04.08.2011 6:08 PM PDT]

  • Inb4OMGitsa3leggedgoat. Now for my real reply: The corridors look really narrow and will be a haven for grenade spam, I don't know, sorry to not jump on your bandwagon but it doesn't look great. That said, things can play better than they look although to be honest you really don't need aplha whatever tests, that's just sounds like you're trying to release something it isn't upon the community and trying too hard at that, just get a group of friends and run through it. And public beta testing? Are you serious, Goat? i know you're popular on the forum but don't abuse it and over-hype your map. Also another issue I have is that you've done the one thing that ruins a lot of maps, you've enclosed it in Forerunner walls, it's nothing but grey, I suggest you leave some naturall scenery so your map doesn't look generic. We posted this feedback thread with the intention of improving the gameplay experience on Think Twice. We understand now that posting it as early as we did wasn't fair to the rest of the forgers, and we also understand why we seemed to come off as egotistical, arrogant, or elitist. Conversely, we stand by the necessity of posting feedback threads, and we hope that this has been an example to all forgers. It is imperative that you take your map seriously when you are testing it. Not everybody is going to like you or your map, but how you handle their criticism (legitimate and otherwise) and how you apply it towards your creation is what will define you as a designer. If you're building maps for matchmaking, you'll have to endure repeated testing and tweaking before it's ready. While we can be a bit biased at times, I assure you that the four of us strive to be as humble as we can and take in all constructive feedback. Being told your map isn't good can be disheartening, but we've approached the legitimate criticism with open-minds and either considered or tested many of the ideas.
