Post your ideas for ODST 2!

Only the hardcore ODST lovers come here, so it's up to us to turn this thread into a hypothetical compilation of what [i]could[/i] have been a sequel to Halo ODST. Let's come up with a plot, some key gameplay elements, modes, etc. and share them here. I'll keep this thread updated and gradually organize it as our design progresses. I'll start by listing some things we can go off of: [b]Story:[/b] New Mombassa wasn't fully explored in ODST, so we could say that there were other ODST's in this city that fought in the battle in a different way. We could experience the story from different "Echo Team" who encountered Buck and his squad at some point during fighting in the city. Echo has their own mission to complete within the city. Or we don't even have to do it during this point in the city. The ODST's can drop in before the carrier goes into slip space and help the chief in old mombassa. The ODST's don't even have to be in the city--we can drop them to a completely different battle. Heck, we can even drop them on Reach and have them assist in the battles there. What about Harvest? Though if we drop them there, we lose the urban feeling, which was great and could be expanded on.     If it gets released then maybe they should do a PC version with mod tools as well. Maybe they could even port the best mods over to the 360.

  • Amazing thread by A3LG... and it's... positive??? Didn't think you were capable of positivity :P. Unlikely feature to add would be to be able to walk in and out of any building, open up the sandbox.

  • This may sound like a cheap copy, but Halo: Reach ODST you play as Buck during the events of Halo: Reach it would include an enhanced firefight mode -you would spent points from killing enemies as upgrades nessecary to surviving to the next round -upgrades would be: weapon, vehicle, and troop drops -you would buy them through a radio somewhere on the map between waves -weapon drop-a Longsword drops 6 random weapon canisters on the map, with at least one power weapon vehicle drop-a pelican drops a UNSC vehicle of your choice troop drop- a pelican drops of a sqaud of marines, ODSTs, or spartans multiplayer would also be upgraded Invasion would pit ODSTs against elites and brutes if the covenant gain an objective, a dropship would drop AI controlled reinforcements to help the covenant players invasion would be played on urban, cramped battlefields in the armory, your ODST would be fully customizable using points not spent on upgrades in firefight

  • I think there should be an option to play in 3rd or 1st person so you actualy get to see your character also you should have upgrades to your armor like having shoulderpads dives you extra defence

  • I would like to see a really cool cutscene with awesome aerial combat. I haven't really seen a hardcore dogfight in a Halo game. I think it would be awesome to see a massive fight between Banshees, Hornets, Seraph Fighters, Longsword, Shortsword, and all manner of aerial vehicles.

  • i agree with tacoss HELL yeah but it has to be on reach because we dont know what happend with buck on reach and maybe he met noble six or carter and maybe kat we have 2 let the odsts have atleast 3 shootable weapons

  • Ok, in ODST, we shall delve a bit into the past of some of the squad. This will probably be Buck and Dare only though. It will have 10 or more missions. About 4 of those will be flashback. The campaign will feature the ODST's fighting the Covenent before the destruction or news from the ark. Dutch will die and mickey will go AWOL for revenge. The squad will split into different groups. Rookie with Dare and Romeo with Buck. On the way into the Covenent planet/ship, they'll find Virgil captured by the Covenent to kill all the humans, or hijacked/sent to help and hacks into the mainframe. They find that for their new weapon/experiment, they need a dead human body for DNA and battle strategy to have a clue on what the ODST's will do. They hack into the cameras and find Mickey about to be harvested. Mickey helps by setting up explosives throughout the ship. They are about to escape when Mickey says he made a promise to Dutch. They go find his body and carry to the escape area. There, it turns out that the unfinished creature is there, waiting for them. They almost kill it but then it's grabs Dutch. It starts to assimilate his body. You then take control of Mickey. You kill the creature. You retrieve Dutch's body. After the escape and credits. You see Mickey's promise; have Dutch flash-cloned so he can live one last day with his friends and family. I know this is a bunch, but here is basically the plot to ODST 2 with the flashbacks and ODST 3 with dead dutch [Edited on 06.27.2011 5:33 AM PDT]

  • -ODST's can sprint like the armour ability in Reach. -They have Thermal vision, normal flashlights on either there guns or helmets in addition to the normal VISR. -Assassinations and a combat knife that is used in normal melee. -More weapons, bring back the silenced pistol and smg. -More silenced human weapons, ie silenced sniper or silenced dmr/battle rifle. -A menu accessed inventory for items like datapads, collectables, grenades and biofoam. -More grenades, bring back spike grenade and add flash, smoke and flares. -Full customisation that affects gameplay in campaign and firefight (not matchmaking), ie tactical softcase from reach could increase grenade count. Campaign armour upgrades should only be accessed by finding armouries in game. -Fully explorable city. -In firefight, campaign and matchmaking there should be ODST drops for respawning and mission starts. -Side missions in sigle player. -Being able to command marines and civilians. -Hornets and pelicans/phantoms/spirits as controlable vehicles.

  • Leo-Earthborn patriotic boy dedicated in the fight against freedom. Joined ODST unit to get payback against the Covenant alien scum attacking his homeworld. Personality_Loyal and willing to break orders if it gets the mission done and involves the death of all Covenant soldiers. Dialogue-Not afraid to show his true feelings in any matter willing to curse to show his anxiety and stress. Specialty- Natural born leader Medium weponary(typo) such as the Assault Rifle and the 8 gauge shotgun

  • Maybe add in a small prequel sequence with buck and what he did during the fall of Reach. _New weapons-i agree combat knife when out of ammo NEW PLAY TYPES :Multiplayer versus mode elites+ brutes new city objective modes Competitive campaign mode like left 4 dead small odst team versus elite and brute team

  • It should feature an attachment system like in COD for your guns. Also you should be able to select what character you are playing as when you replay missions.
