Post your ideas for ODST 2!

Only the hardcore ODST lovers come here, so it's up to us to turn this thread into a hypothetical compilation of what [i]could[/i] have been a sequel to Halo ODST. Let's come up with a plot, some key gameplay elements, modes, etc. and share them here. I'll keep this thread updated and gradually organize it as our design progresses. I'll start by listing some things we can go off of: [b]Story:[/b] New Mombassa wasn't fully explored in ODST, so we could say that there were other ODST's in this city that fought in the battle in a different way. We could experience the story from different "Echo Team" who encountered Buck and his squad at some point during fighting in the city. Echo has their own mission to complete within the city. Or we don't even have to do it during this point in the city. The ODST's can drop in before the carrier goes into slip space and help the chief in old mombassa. The ODST's don't even have to be in the city--we can drop them to a completely different battle. Heck, we can even drop them on Reach and have them assist in the battles there. What about Harvest? Though if we drop them there, we lose the urban feeling, which was great and could be expanded on.   • Every single one is great, but I think in Firefight you start in a ship in low orbit and every time you die you spawn their. You then get the weapons you can and drop.

I think if you die you are dead until your teammate finds a health station or checkpoint. I love te lighting idea. i think if you get into a dark are, aliens shouldnt be able to see you.

  • You see, a class based system may actually work nice here, though I would prefer Reach's here. (Classes for most game modes) Demolitions (Rocket Launcher W/ 2 shots, ODST SMG, 2 grenades, 2 plasmas) Sniper (Sniper Rifle, Battle Rifle, 1 grenade) Assault (AR, Automag, 2 grenades) Support (Battle Rifle, ODST SMG, 1 grenade, Bubble shield) Medic (ODST SMG, Automag, 1 grenade, Regenerator) CQC (ODST SMG, 2-hit kill melee weapon, 1 grenade, 1 plasma) Melee system should be a [i]small[/i] lunge. It should be one hit from behind, a few from anywhere else. 32 player playlists A game mode like invasion except whatever you guys have to do to the enemy, they have to do to you, at the same time. 2-way Invasion Playlists where you CAN'T go into part or private chat. Incentive to level up. Each team will have a leader and a co-leader. they will be able to place multiple objectives on the map at once (attack, defend, support from here, reinforcements, stay away, hostiles over here, sniper, vehicles, flank here, enemy flank, etc). You have a mini map and a full sized one you press select to view. Enemies appear when shooting, except the ODST SMG. Bloom. This may actually help make guns more accurate, spammers, and will be a way for the SMGs to be more accurate and useful. [Edited on 08.05.2011 2:30 AM PDT]

  • Story: You would play as a single ODST through 3 different battles. If anyone has played Star Wars Republic Commando then you know how the 3 mission system would work. The battles would be the Battle of Tribute: Tribute was a planet within the same solar system as Reach. It's also where Dutch saw every naval ship be destroyed to make sure all the civilians escape. Obviously Dutch would make an appearance. You would make an orbital drop for this mission. The Fall of Reach: If you remember on Tip of the Spear it shows a group of ODSTs being deployed on the map. You could be part of that and later be deployed in New Alexandria where buck would make an appearance. The Battle of High Charity: You would end up on High Charity when the In Amber Clad crashes. You would fight your way through Covenant Loyalists, Separatists, and Flood. Eventually as the Flood started to take control you would find yourself in a last stand situation. Only having a flame thrower you would hold off as many Flood as you could. If you remember from the Halo 3 level Cortana there was a lone dead ODST with a flamethrower.   • In ODST the reason that your squad survived the slipspace rupture was because of the course change, so another NM is out unless ONI had multiple teams not going to the Carrier.

  • I get that this is strictly an ODST thread xD However, I quite liked the different ODST's that were in Reach. Instead of Sprint, they could maybe have a jetpack on at all times to emphasize their being Orbital drop shock troopers.

  • Well supressed weapons are less accurate than unsupressed weapons, and i don't think that would work. Take for example the AR. It is already kind of inacurate, and with a silencer on it, that would be worse!

But if we were to have a City apart from New Alexandria,the flood could be awesome in the city at night. it could make the silenced weapons useful. say, if you used an unsilenced weapon, every thing of flood within a 500 metre radius would come towards you. i dont know, thats just an idea.   • Heres awesome ideas: -Choice of character(Elites,Brutes,Spartans,ODST's) -Forgeing on New Mombasa(kinda like a Forge World 2) -Armor Permutations for each kind of character but actually help you online like some shoulder pads bounce bullets off -Actual freerunning -vault over obstacles -wieldable Katana(dual wieldable) and ability to dual wield energy swords -dual wielding -ability to be flood (matchmaking on Infection, Zombies actually look like they were infected by flood only on infection and when a zombie dies flood spores come out an try to infect you and you have to rapidly tap X to get it off and zombies can use any kind of weapon) -Matchmaking where you can be an odst,elite,spartan,brute online -when you spawn online you start off with weapons that are from your race(ex:Elites start off with a carbine and plasma pistol, Brutes start off with a spike rikle {not the brute spiker an alternative of a needle rifle that looks different an shoots brute spikes}and a secondary weopon is a plasma pistol that is more powerful different colors and shoots red, ODST's start of with a silenced Battle rifle and a silenced magnum, Spartans start off with DMR's and a magnum) -assasanations and graphics from reach or better -go into space on matchmaking or maps where your in space and use sabres or space banshees -driveable scarab -giant hunters like on halo legends -armor abilites and equipment like bubble shields and whatnot -assasanations differ depending on weapon like with a gun that has a blade and energy swords, katana, flags,grav hammer,golfclub,needle gun needles are stabbed into opponent -wildlife like moas, blind wolfs(they were a deleted character/vehicle in halo 2)those big things on the campaign on reach they have tusks, new aliens like the deleted ones on halo 2 flamethrowers, misslepods, ect. any vehicle you see you can drive -each character has their own campaign like an elite campaign brute campaign odst campaign spartan campaign -maps on different planets like earth, halo, the ark, harvest, reach, the forerunner planet, the elite planet, ect. -ability to change your gender and you can see a difference on all races -customize your armor and customize your pesons face and change whether you can play with your persons helmet on or off -more armor effects and different colrs of flaming helmets -more armor abilities like swim, teleport, dive -choose the guns that you want start off with but they have to be from your race and no power weopons you can still pick up other races guns and power weapons on the maps an can change attachments on guns and choose armor ability you want to start off with hope you liked my ideas i also liked other ideas but im too lazy to put them in :) [Edited on 07.28.2011 1:47 PM PDT]

  • I like it, but the story can take place during Halo 3 when the chief left, earth was still fighting and not all the covenant left to got to the ark. I would also like to see the following: -Armor that effects you ability in combat; Your gear does what it was designed for; every knife, every bullet/shell/grenade is there to help you rather then make you look pretty. -make it so you can choose the face behind the helmet. -make it so the glass actually brakes when your hit in the face. -make battery powered energy based weapons like the plasma riffle and pistol have an overload feature(hold a button down and throw a riffle like a grenade) -add smoke, flashband, bubble, cryo/stasis, and fusion grenades. -bring back the Flood; if the story takes place during chiefs trip to the ark or right before it you could fight the flood and run to safety while the are being glassed or hold them in place to be burned out of the sky. -(*if story is during halo 3 rather then between 2 & 3) make the sentinals from the forerunner structure come into play with no stuff; that gate in halo 3 had to be maintained by something... -add more detailing to the armour; add camoflauge and designs to the armour for a more custom fit(like Dare's leg camo) -online search would be nice; I would help out more if I could find people online. -more drivable vehicles; for a city of the furture it doesn't seem like enything actually works. -mini-games; like the slot machines, videos, or something to have fun when your just out exploring. -more features for the HUDs like sound amplifiers, visual effects, or a translator(some people like the feal or ignorance, but I woul like to hear what the enimie is up to). -Gender; not every girl looks like Dare. -Gore; make it so its off by default, but I want a sense of realism when I die. -more game types; I like exploring but slayer and objective is key to team building and training(The original came with a separate multiplay disk, just amp them up and make the multiplayer have ODST's instead of Spartan's or have them both). -choosing the flow of the story; you choose a certain path and it leads to a different ending then the one experienced by someone else. -Be able to use computers, datapads, and other tech in the game, including those attached to your gear like the UPGS and the Terminals. -radio channels; I like to hear ambiant music and ambiant radio channels that play music stations. -the Armory and credits were a great idea, but the Cr cap was not. -Ingame stores/merchants to unlock new hidden equipment. -access to video camera systems and being able to hack the enimies comm. -bring back the gear from Halo 3 and ODST but keep the new gear and look from Reach/Halo 4. -No Armor abilities, but keep the jetpack and make sprint and evade standard(Like hold a and move forward to run and crouch and tap a in a direction to roll). -be able take equipment off the enimies like armor and stuff; the jackels shields have been used in the books, lets put them to use in the game. -Operate everything; every car, every truck, every single vehicle...I want to be able to use them. -Weapon upgrades; in the series the assault riffle can replace the flashlight on the undercarrage with a grip, a shotgun, a grenade launcher, or a berenett and you can replace the compass/ammo counter with a site like the one on the DMR, you can even extend the Barrel like Kat's assault riffle -I want to see more of the map; open up all the doors(lock a few but make it so they can be open) and show us the whole city -hand-to-hand; the exicution moves are great, but when I run out of ammo all I can do is hit somebody with my riffle, let me do some punching and cutting with real hand-to-hand. -add more armor options then those in Halo Reach: >both wrists(choose right and choose left separately like Jorge has in Reach) >knees >right shoulder >left shoulder >chest(make upgrade sets so you can choose to add a grenade/shell/bullet/clip is attached or not) >back(packs, belts, magazines, etc.) >helmets(with up to 3 upgrades rather then the sets they have now; top and sides and HUDs that match the helmet or at least custom HUDs so you can choose how you see the world) >Thigh equipment/armor >visor colors(the whole color wheel not just like 5) >voices >effects(add some more colors to the flaming helm, add haunted as an upgrade for all helmets, and make it so you can have up to 3 at a time; dying, body, and head) >leg attachments(add a knife or a bit of armor to your lower leg) there is probably more, I just can't think about them right now. Plus, that is alot of stuff to add...sorry if you read through all that disapointed. I might have repeated a few things others already said...these are just a few of the things I want in the series.
