Disc Not Reading? Call 1-800-4-MY-XBOX for support (see page 35).
Every game I have reads fine but Reach will not load. No scratches and it won't even get to the point where I can install it to the HDD. It even came up as a DVD a few times...
Urk: If you are experiencing disc read errors with Halo: Reach, please contact customer support at 1-800-4-MY-XBOX and report the issue. As soon as we have more concrete information, we'll update this thread with the next steps.

Mine has been going on for a while, but has progressively gotten worse. At first it was just a freeze once every 2 months, then once a week (Bout every 5-6 hours in game), now its every game. I start a matchmaking game. I play for a few mins. Suddenly all the sound dissappears or gets really muffled like the space mission in campaign. 5 mins later it either freezes or it crashes and pops up with the disc unreadable. Weird thing is I've reinstalled it with no errors twice and this still happens. Help? My xbox is not valid for warranty either as it has been fixed by a friend for red ring. Silver tray, white box. Here is the legitimate solution. If you want to play campaign, xbl, etc. and get all of your features to work on Reach. Buy a cheap MU or if you have internal MU your set. MU = Memory Unit. Move your gamer profile to the MU or internal MU. You'll have to do an update if you want to play XBL but for internal MU users, this is no issue as there's somewhere around 250 MB of space. Now take off that HDD. Start it up without the HDD. This is a free and easy fix. It took me all of two seconds. Actually, load times are much faster too. I started at 50 % loading the last mission. It's not the disc and it never was. It must have been associated with the HDD. It could be an isolated instance of success, but I would suggest to everyone who feels like there is no solution to at least try it. It's free and easy. It's better than selling it. However, I would almost (key word) guarantee that this will work any and everywhere.

Ye idd, this is fail from microsoft.. its like nintendo would release Super mario and you cant even play it. Btw, shut down your console, remove the HDD and try to play reach. does it work for you then? For me it does, really strange..

Yo, same -blam!- happening to me on my xbox 360 arcade.. I bought Halo Reach for about 3 days ago and ive been playing campaign,? multiplayer etc without any problems at all.. and suddenly when i tried to play today loading failure appears and i cant play. I dont have any problems with other games such as crysis, cod, medal of honor so its prob not my console. But the strange thing is halo reach works when i remove my Harddrive. And i cant even install it to my HDD.. Oh and ive been reading lots of posts and it seems the Xbox 360s 250gb slims also have this issue..

so I just finished have this problem, all i had to do was get the disc cleaned, now i also have a problem my halo reach keeps saying im quiting games, and therefore i am getting banned. :S WTF btw i am not quiting games. any help would be awsome

Mine is having a weird issue where whenever i finsh a multiplayer match it kicks me to the dashboard. Ive heard they're actually replacing target consoles that have certain x codes (you can check that in the same place you find your serial #/ console id). Call and ask, if your on an original model, they'll send you a Slim... assuming your eligible. [Edited on 06.12.2011 3:20 AM PDT]

Halo works fine for some reason. Either, i now know what the issue thanks to the post above. I will be giving the console back to gamestop. Let them eat the loss!!

Had the same problem with mine as well, along with Dragon Age2. With the repair warrenty being expired I found someone who could fix it. The problem was the eye reading the game disc did reset to a starting point for Reach. After being showed what was wrong, if it happens again I have have to: a) open up the xbox, take the cover off the drive, take the drive out, and manually move the eye to the center position. or b) replace the drive entirely
