When halo reach comes out in 2 days. I hvae been reading some formus and I'm confused. When halo reach is out, if you want more maps do we have to buy for more MS pts. If so, why cant bungie put everything at once in just one disc instead of separate 3 maps for DLC only. It doesnt make any sense at all.
Posted by: guitar_dude Like they did with Halo 3, they sold separate map packs at 800MS points each, and then they made us buy ODST which had ALL the maps. Now, no one in the community knew about Bungie's plans to release the ODST disc, so everyone went ahead and bought the individual map packs, and HAD to buy the ODST disc to get the final 3 maps. They told us (I think) that the 3 final maps only available on the ODST disc would not be available as all the other map packs, and be available on the marketplace. So some people only bought ODST for the maps, and then they put out the final 3 maps on marketplace a while after the release of ODST. Then they made 80% of the playlists 'All DLC required', so from the beginning, it has always been one big money making idea which has seemed to work. The end. :-)
Lol it's not a matter of "seeming" it's a matter of business common sense. For people who aren't in business they don't see some things almost like a newborn baby. Those that are in business knows how it works and therefore nothing of the sort catches you off guard. This entire Halo franchise and all of it's properties have been planned for years in advance to maximize every inch of profit as any successful company would. Sure later some people may whine on some online forums but that is insignificant what matters is the infrastructure is working as intended. Maybe some people should take your basic business/economics class to understand the basic things they should already be aware of. Also, I would like to point out that nobody had to buy anything. Thing is most people want things in a spoon fed manner even if they have to waste money in the process. These are people who don't know better. Then there are people who from past experience either as a consumer or being in business know that shortly after the products release they will be made more available and then followed by progressive price decrease. There is always a seller and a buyer, the more one has the upper hand on the other due to the current circumstance and the factors surrounding it, the more that one can use that leverage to maximum effect and profit. So, in short understanding these things in at least a basic form is the difference between an intelligent consumer and an average one. The more you use the light, the less you have to be in the dark.
Posted by: THORSGOD We have seen the infection gametype being played on a yet to be released map, therefore the theory of 1st month DLC has sprouted.
Why do people think that it is a new map? They must be srsly retarded. I have seen the image and it is just on a beach of an island on Forge World THERE IS NO UNANNOUNCED FINISHED MAP
-
No DLC has been announced but they said they are going to continue supporting the game for a long, long time after release. That being said, don't get confused into thinking that they have fully completed say 30 maps, and decided to just only give a fraction of them. They will continue to generate awesome new playing spaces that take lots of time and effort. What's on the disc is whats priced at $60. The disc you pay for is not a free pass to whatever Bungie comes up with next. If you don't want to pay for the new things they come up with then thats OK. I, unfortunately, understand when it comes to constrained budgets...

they cant ship all the maps they've not created yet onto a disk, or else we'd be waiting a year for the game to come out just to have 3-6 more maps on it

There haven't been any announcements on DLC maps yet, and probably won't be for a while. Don't worry.
Posted by: OctalLord I don't entirely understand where you got that idea. But there are no DLC maps for Halo:Reach at this time. All of the existing Halo:Reach maps ARE shipped with the disc. I don't know who you've been talking to mister. But whoever it is, is messing with you.
^^
