• Above All Laws: Clearly, your handle refers to the unspoken laws of logic and reason. How dare you come in here and mock all of us for what a handful of people from this forum have perpetrated. Even more outrageous is the fact that you're acting in the exact same manner that you so readily condemn. If one member of Bungie Forums represents the whole of its posting population, are you not the quintessential exemplar of the people at PA? Begone, and take your fallacious reasoning with you. -FW

 • i want to dance the night away! can we go play? down by the bay? when we'll all say "hey hey hey" in the month of may... today no, but really, can we all just get a little jiggy w/ it? scratch that lets relax im sure not all PA patrons are D1cks but u cant deny there are many just like not all bungie patrons are d1cks but the are undeniably a solid caste of them every group has their d1cks i suppose this is open to discusion(o yeah, and flaming on spelling is x-tremely lame) unless the greatness that is bungie decides it is not, as it may be, and i assure u it is, an untolerable tangent

 • You are obviously in denial of the fact that many of you are racists. That's THE POINT I"M MAKING. YOUR LOGIC IS ALL WRONG. All of you saying PA is filth, SUKS, all this crap. That's making stupid generalizations. So when someone from PA is stupid, everyon from PA is stupid. But when someone from Bungie forums acts as a racist and homophobe. Only he is that. JUST REALIZE YOUR ACTIONS AND APOLOGIZE FOR MAKING GENERALIZATIONS.

 • So, if a single Bungie kid writes a bunch of smack, all Bungie kids are smackheads? By the same logic, if a single PA kid writes a bunch of smack, all PA kids are a bunch of smackheads? Well, Above All Laws, if you're PA's rep, then PA are a bunch of smackheads, and I'm one of them, so there's no way I'm letting you represent me. Some people from here are smackheads, and, as you've so expertly shown, some people in PA are smackheads. But you're not representative of all of us, nor are the smackheads from Bungie.net that posted in PA representative of Bungie. Hell, for all I know, you're the person who wrote the above quote in PA, trying to pick a fight. Some random jerk from the internet who stumbled across the problem and decided to have some fun with it.

 • Sorry for the error. Morons was a part of the person's previous post. I kinda missed it all the way down there because he pressed return so many times in between his derogatory terms and Ku Klux -blam!- language.

 • Well once again one of you sad, yet defiant Bungie GROUPIES spammed our forum. The last couple times it was TOLERABLE. They just said stupid things, used terrible grammar/spelling/punctuation.... but now it's pretty serious. Whoever it was, I do not care because it does not matter. He represents all of you in the bungie community. So we will call him "official bungie representative" Though the language filter on these forums will not let me repeat what he said I will post what he was meaning and you can come up with the real words. "YEAH THATS IT THEY FOLLOW THE RULES HAHAHA ONCE AGAIN, IDIOTS, *insert derogatory homo-blam!- slur* GO HAVE SEX WITH ALL OF UR *insert N word racial slur* So I guess the Mr. Bungie representative obviously by all means is a HOMOPHOBIC, RACIST-WHITE SUPREMACIST-. The fact that I know of him as to be the only Bungie representative at my forums I will assume all of you are that way until I am further instructed. I would like an apology as well. Unacceptable. That's all it is. MORONS

 • Okay, the thread is back up. This was at the bottom... This topic is locked because there was a lot of very needless flamming and harrasment generated by it. To be honest, it was pretty -blam!-ing embarassing. However, I will say that I do stand behind the forums as being good. I know Gabe's comments pissed off some people, myself included, but you have to look at it from his point of view. One of his friends signs on and gives us the chance to be the first ones to hear about some news on Halo 2 and we promptly turned around and dropped our pants. That said, I do not defend what he said. He lumped a lot of users together and insulted us as a group rather than saying "There were some -blam!- who ..." Anyway, despite our inital reaction, we really do appreciate bungie stopping by our little forums with their weekly update. I am bringing this thread out of it former deletion so people can still have a good read. There was more, but it wasn't relevant. The important thing is...that they sorta were nice about it. Frankie just wanted to try something new, he just skipped a few steps to do it (not that I'm dissing him. If it weren't for his updates, I would be pulling my hair out by the roots looking for H2 info). With that said, everyone who posted, rabid Bungie fans and arrogant, angry PA forum regs, said something that was either unnecessary (ex. OMG I CANT WAIT FOR H@ U RAWK HARDKORE FRANKIE) or flaming (I won't post an example, due to the fact that I'd get banned for the amount of expletives in them). Whether or not PA regs started it, it was pretty -blam!-ing embarrassing to watch you guys take offense at some (rightfully) pissed off PA members and the rare Bungie hater that actually did cross the forum for something as lousy as lagging up their forums. Even worse were all the threads later with people like names with "PA SUKS" frikking lagging their forums even worse. I found the whole situation an embarrassment to all Bungie fans, and took care not to post under my regular forum name (343 Salty Beans) for fear of marring it. Anyways, all I'm saying is maybe we shouldn't all piss on PA for their rejection of Frankie's update (due to our lagging their servers). Except that I said it in a lot of words. Can we all stop flaming PA and their awesome comics? Besides, they are having a playable Halo 2 demo at their expo. Can you ASK FOR MORE? 343SB

 • As I said before, there is no reason for this to continue being stupid. Of course you would have realized that if you were as sarcastic, cynical and -blam!- up as I am, but nobody is. So that being said, everyone enjoy their week, and go -blam!- yourself. I'm going to spend this week figuring out how to play Halo 2, Fable, and Planetside with enough time to work a 40 hour week. I think some sort of amphetamine would be necessary, but as I'm not much of a chemist, nor do I have a DEA liscense, I think I might be screwed. Is there anyone out there willing to pay me to not-work so I can whoop their ass in Halo 2 multiplayer? If so PM me, I need a personal game sponser. If not, then I'll look forward to whoopin your ass anyway. Some things about the Halo community. There are few games that require their own convention, however with 4 million + copies sold, Halo might be one of those. Now, I'm not talking about any sort of seriously competitive situation, just a gigantic lan-fest, and some cameo's from bungie employees. Now the fan-fest is one thing, but thats only because of E3. Well, actually what I'm trying to say, is I'm a lazy -blam!-, and I live in New York City, so someone should organize a mini-convention here, so I have something to look forward to between now and Halo 2. Damnit.

 • And hey, don't tell anyone I said this, but Cardboard Tube is insane, and I'm pretty sure that if just about any mod besides him had been around when Frankie made his post, things might have wound up differently. Then again, maybe not, but that doesn't matter, because you're not going to tell anyone I said this, right?

 • Sorry for being one of the guys adding to the problem. I understand better now what was going on, and there really wasn't any reason why we should have been so down on the people who were just trying to be supportive. I get the impression that most of you guys understand maybe why we reacted the way we did, but there's really no excuse for the SEVERITY with which we reacted. Sorry again. (This is one of the PA mods)

 • Also, it's interesting to note (but hard to tell now, as the thread is gone) that not every bungie kid got flamed. There were some pretty darn quickwitted and amusing folks, and they got thumbs up and smilies and general good will. The problems were basically the folks who hadn't read the forum rules because they decided that somehow being linked from Bungie meant they could ignore the rules of the forum they were signing up to post on.

 • With regards to the PA forums: yeah, a lot of people over there need to vent. There has always been a sort of hatred or elitist attitude toward new posters over there, and everything directed to them is usually dripping with sarcasm and dry wit. But that's not the point of this post. Its great that Bungie and Frankie decided to drop their weekly update on our forums. I was shocked to see something so official on our forums, and I immediately expected the worst. The flame war went on for something like 55 pages, then was shut down almost immediately. Frankie's posts had two big no-nos (in terms of the PA forums) tacked onto it: a.) He didn't tell the mods. This doesn't sound like a big thing, but try telling that to the guys who are in charge of making sure the forums are running efficiently. Our hits must've tripled within that time frame, causing the forums to run like molasses. This made it hard for the usual PA forumers (us) to come around and do our daily discussion thing, which added even more fuel to the fire. b.) It brought a lot of new people to the forums. This is definitely a bad idea, since this is a forum where you MUST read the rules and NEED to lurk to have an understanding of how it works. Think of it as intruding on a social circle without understanding how it works: the first natural reaction is hostility (anyone would do the same, especially the fans here at Bungie if Gabe or Tycho decided to do an impromptu update here), and nothing good ever stems from that. This isn't to say that Frankie messed up. These two facts are routine procedure (from what I've seen and heard here so far) that conflicted greatly with what is routine at PA. Conflict of interest, or whatever you want to call it. Basically, you gotta know what's what whenever you try to deal with new people, and the PA forums are no exception. Finally, no pseudo-intellectual should be griping about how "ill-witted" PA forumers are or how the PA forums are an "intellegence wasteland." If the few of you here who decided to "intelligently" criticize our forums had a fraction of the intellect your posts' vocabulary let on, you'd understand that the little nuances are what made this the first time someone "insulted the direct feedback from Bungie," as one of your forumers put it on our boards: 1.) We're not a Halo-exclusive forum. I don't own an XBox, and I really don't care much about Halo 2. I'm looking forward to Metroid Prime 2 more than Bungie's game, frankly. Luckily, I'm not one to flame or bash on people needlessly, so I wasn't involved in that train wreck of a post. 2.) We really don't share the same community as you. I really don't think any PA regular posts here, nor does any Bungie regular post on PA often. Bad (and conceited) assumption on Bungie's part to assume everyone at PA cares about Halo 2. Of course, I may be drawing conclusions and they DIDN'T think that, but hey, Frankie posted at PA so its a safe bet. 3.) PA isn't a big gaming company with millions in revenue. We can't afford kickass forums because Gabe and Tycho need to make enough to get by. When these forums go down, we get pissed--especially when the cause is something tangible, like a thousand new members in a couple of hours. 4.) PA forumers, unlike Bungie forumers, are not united by their love for a single game. We are at PA because we want intelligent discussion on games and such, and we like how the forums there serve it--with unapologetic humor and unwavering resolve in each person's beliefs. We don't have a situation where "we all like Halo 2, so we like each other". That may make our place a "-blam!-hole" to you guys, but addressing that could lead to an entire argument about perception that I don't want to throw out (Xiser can PM me if he cares). Lots of people on PA have very different opinions, and frankly, that provides for very intellectual discussion when all the venting is done (and not all of it is about games). I do wish, however people could be a bit more friendly about something so simple as games. That's that. I won't post here again, just PM me if there's anything else. And, even though I don't have an XBox, I wish Frankie luck with his weekly announcements and I hope you all enjoy Halo 2.

 • Guys, it isn't so hard. Common courtesy says that when you post in a forum, you obey the forum rules. Frankie's post was advertising for the game he's working on.
No site whoring...If you are affiliated with a site that is relevant to the Games and Technology community and would like to link to it as part of an on-topic discussion, contact a moderator first and be upfront in your post about the fact that you're linking to your own site.
If you can't obey the rules of the forum you're visiting, why would you be surprised if you're met with hostility?

 •
Another factor is that Frankie was banned from the Penny Arcade Forums. The PA members were trying to come up with a good reason why they did it (there is none). Whatever, I just don't think we should post over at Penny Arcade forums. As in, like, never again. Ever. Never ever.
The guy who did it (Cardboard Tube) didn't know that Frankie posted the update. He banned him because he said the next person to address the topic or say "last words" in any way would get banned. Frankie was at that moment typing a response to the previous flames. I guess good old Carboard Tube needs to take some moderating lessons, because he didn't pay attention to the time stamp (they both were posted at the same time, but Frankie's was a couple of seconds late so he was under), and he banned Frankie. I personally have a bad taste in my mouth from the whole experience. I love the comic, though, and luckily, the comic itself is completely unrelated to the forums.

 •
Posted by: Master Bate Dude, the page with the flames have been deleted, and I am very interested to know more of the situation. Can anyone tell me detaily what happened?
It progressed to some flame war, but it started out of nowhere. Some Penny Arcade member started sayin stuff about Frankie and his update invading the website, assuming they would be happy. Other PA members started talking about how angry they were, calling the bungie members morons and stuff. We didn't really do anything, so I guess the P.A. members just wanted to like, vent some anger. They get really angry. Another factor is that Frankie was banned from the Penny Arcade Forums. The PA members were trying to come up with a good reason why they did it (there is none). Whatever, I just don't think we should post over at Penny Arcade forums. As in, like, never again. Ever. • I agree, It would be really smart to reveal all of the CENCERED’s so that "when” (Key word) Halo 2 releases people can read what they say before or after they beat the game! because then you can read, lets say, the names of the explained Multi-Player maps, or the secret lightmap or bump mapped details so people know what to look out for!!! Or even the things that people say in the game! Or anything else I didn't mention! If I were Frankie, I would!!!
Posted by: OmegaProtoman Hmmm...I saw someone mention on here that it would be a good idea to fill in all the "CENSORED"s from the weekly updates after Halo 2's released, and personally I agree, that's an incredibly good idea. It would give us all a chance to see if our guesses were right. (The only downside would be that it would put major spoilers in the update archive, but with a little warning on it for people who hate spoilers and it should be fine.)
• Hey, this is kinda off subject, but I guess you could relate to it out of the CENSORED's. A while back, some members were contemplating on a few CENSORED's being about a new pistol. I thought about this, but soon dismissed it. A few weeks later, I bought the Halo book series and read them all. In the third book, First Strike, a secret humans weapon cache was found. In this cache were two weapons, exactly descripted as the submachine gun and battle rifle. Also, there was a pistol. The book explained that the pistol had a bigger kick and was a little more powerful. I hope this can solve some problems about the CENSORED's :)
