Anyone else haveing trouble downloading Halo 2 maps?

Guys, Microsoft is now monitoring how many complaints they're getting about this. Everyday, complain to them. On Twitter, reply to @xboxsupport. They're the official Xbox Support on Twitter and they reply to every tweet. I've already bugged them a few times. EVERYBODY, tweet these guys. Everybody also needs to call support and complain that you want the maps back up. They're not going to put the maps up if just me and a couple others call. This needs to be a group effort.

I will explain how the maps get damaged. The original xbox has DLC copy protection where if it isnt signed for the console, it wont work. It didn't matter that much as the failure rate was much lower, and the HDD was inside the console as well. The only way to attempt to pirate without modding was to copy the files to a memory card, and it would appear "damaged" if it wasn't for that console. Even then modders could beat that by resigining the files. When you send in your 360 in to a service center, they swap your console with a working one. Since the 360 HDD is being moved, and since the liscense transfer doesn't apply to xbox 1 dlc and save games, you lose many of your save files and all of your title updates and DLC. They will appear damaged to the games, but not to the Dashboard. Because there is no way to redownload, if it messes up you can't play.

Well, I'm really upset that XBL support is being pulled for all original Xbox titles, but I'm more upset that they pulled the DLC for all original Xbox titles when it isn't going off line 'til April 15th? Why?! I have a 360 and am still able to play Halo 2 online just fine with the [i]Multi-Player[/i] and [i]Blastacular[/i] Map Pack maps. The problem is, I don't have the [i]Derelict[/i] and [i]Hang em' High[/i] maps and I thought for sure I did. I really want to download them. :(

If Microsoft put the maps back up, I'd play Halo 2 until its doomsday. If Microsoft allowed Halo 2 to stay up, I'd play it beyond its doomsday, but not forever. If someone remade, re-released, or ported a new version of Halo 2, I'd play it beyond that, even.

I prefer LAN and split screen for my halo 2 goodness. I was one of the 1st to complain to them about this, soon after sticking in H2 after the announcement. The time-frame they gave me for my supervisor escalation has already lapsed without contact. The fact that there has been ZERO acknowledgment from any of the Xbox spokes-folks is disappointing. I'll be checking in with them, ticket number in check later today.

Guys, best thing to do when calling support is to talk to them like you know more then they do (because you do). Tell them I know original games are going offline in April, but I was going to download the DLC before I couldn't anymore and you guys already took the DLC off. Tell them that this does not go well with you and they need to get the DLC back on. Especially for Halo 2. Don't be like I can't download Halo 2 DLC. You're just going to end up going through a lot of un-necessary hoops. [Edited on 02.08.2010 10:36 AM PST]

My question is what made Microsoft choose to pull the plug on the downloadable content servers so soon? Shutting Xbox Live access down for the original games and giving us two months notice, unfortunate but understandable -- but why then yank DLC access immediately after making the announcement? This is when everybody is gonna want to collect their things for safekeeping before the time comes that they cannot download them again. There's other great stuff than just Halo 2 maps too, like the Hurricane Packs for the original Ninja Gaiden or the extra campaign missions for Splinter Cell. This is stuff that can be played offline but cannot be obtained offline, I think its garbage that they just pulled the plug like that. They need to reverse the decision and give the subscribers some time to make sure they have everything first.
