I really don't understand why it is illegal in the first place.
It could be legal in certified brothels, which would have to pay tax.
Street prostitution should remain illegal, however, as it could not be taxed.

However I do disagree on your views. I think it should be the way it is in the Brazil, the UK, Canada, and several other places in the world where, as Wikipedia itself says, "prostitution (the exchange of sex for money) is legal, but organized activities such as brothels and pimping are illegal". Oh and it should be regulated. By the way, on the tax thing, taxes don't work like that. Everyone is already taxed on whatever income they have, you don't need to make taxes specific to prostitution.[/quote]How do you regulate some girl paying a guy from his car and then going to a cheap motel for sex? Also, in the state of New York, their is an enormous tax on tobacco, taxes do work like that.
