Firefight All firefight values are the same for campaign except 3 times more. This means you must multiply the point answer you recieve from the equation by 3 to work out your Firefight point value. • When you are going for endure, it's kind of funny what peoples reaction or response is when they see 11x or 12x multiplier up on the screen. When our team did the achievement. We all sort of gave a nervous chuckle and said, "Ok let's do this!" lol. Also, it seemed like the higher we went, the more amped up we were and the harder it was for us to get killed. We had 20+ extra lives. Which is common I've seen. Ive said this before, "How far is someone going to take the record?" With and without the Chopper. Now with an explanation of the point system people can better strategize their game. I understood it before. I just never sat down and analyzed it like that. Like the trueskill system, one can learn all the formulas, but it comes down to this, just don't die and make lots of kills. Of course the Trueskill system is for Halo 3 and that's a different subject and different forum. [Edited on 10.09.2009 5:52 AM PDT]

 •
Posted by: random no337 After Set 14 isn't it a non-stop bonus round?
Really? So Firefight does actually end somewhere? Can anyone confirm this?
Posted by: random no337 or maybe that other guy who got 10 million points with the choppers)
Ah, I think that player made it to set 20 or something before losing all his lives. I could be wrong though KingSausage.

Are you saying that it increases by 0.5x every new set and then will stop at set 9? Or does it keep going?

 • <3 I'm the kind of person who wants to know exactely how things work in games, (Exact health values, damage values, fire rates, accuracy, collision checking methods) and I was just about to make a topic about this to try and figure out the medal multipliers. Topic saved. You win +8 awesome points!

 • This will need some testing but I definitely saw the multiplier in the top right of the screen decrease over time, so I'm assuming the time multiplier is shown inside that. Perhaps it works like this: You're on normal difficulty (x1) with a couple of primary skulls activated (x1.5, x1.5) giving you a total multiplier of 3x. When you start the game you actually see 9x in the top right, because you're still within the time for the 3x time bonus. You kill 5 enemies which would normally give you 300 points, however, because of the 3x skull multiplier you see 900 points in game, and at the end becasue of the 3x time bonus you see the actual total is 2700. So the 9x bonus displayed in game is correct. (300x9=2700) Let's say you took a bit longer and moved to the 2.5x time bonus instead. You'll see in the top right it's gone from 9x to 7.5x. You kill the same enemies netting you 900 points (300x3) but at the end of the game you get a total of 2250 points due to the 2.5x time bonus. Therefore when the 9x dropped to 7.5x it was correct (300x7.5=2250) I'm pretty sure this is how it works - I don't think the time bonus is applied twice, it's just confusing how it's displayed in game because you think you're getting a 9x bonus for every kill at that time when really it's just a 3x bonus (which gets made up to 9x if you complete it quick enough). Basically it's showing you a dynamic TOTAL multiplier which is correct if you were to finish the game at that exact time. The longer you take, the more this total drops due to the time bonus decreasing. Let me know what you think.

 •
Posted by: Philip Willis As for your confusion as to why Normal appears to have a 3.0x multiplier, it's because of the time multiplier in Campaign. You start off with a 3.0x time multiplier which slowly decreases with time (evey 5 or 10 mins or so I think). Eventually you would see a 1.0x multiplier in the top right of the screen if you took long enough on a campaign mission set at Normal difficulty (providing no primary skulls have been activated).
I was actually thinking this, but in the post-game stats the amount of points you earn in-game is actually multiplied by the time multiplier giving a total amount of points which can only be viewed after you finish. So I presume if it were like this then for the total score you will need to multiply by 3 or whatever number you finish with for the time multiplier twice instead of just the once. This is why I don't think it's a time multiplier. Though with further research I may prove myself wrong. ;) I've also noticed a vital error in the multi-kill calculation concderning style points, I'll just fix that.
