Just bought my pre-ordered copy of ODST tonight. Picked it up at 12:22 am and quickly drove it home to play. Already had friends lined up to do 4 player co-op. $60.00 for 3 new multiplayer maps that will be free in another 2 months, and a 5 hour campaign... That doesn't sound good I thought, but then this is Halo and we have all of the previous titles and loved each one. That list includes Halo Wars... Therefore I thought that this one has to be good. Long story short, the 4 of us all agreed that this is a terrible game which is chock full of shortcuts and unpolished hogwash. I plan to take my copy back to the store when it opens for my money back! Bungie - This is not worth $60.00 - not even close. This is a crappy game and that is coming from a Halo-fanboy. You guys lost a customer tonight. I won't buy another one of your titles. I am extremely disappointed by this game.
Posted by: TheEasy1JM
Posted by: Mark V guy So Bungie make 3 games you love, then they make one game you hate and your opinion if them is ruined Grow up, seriously, everything has its negatives. If you love the original trilogy but just don't like ODST, why suddenly hate Bungue and think the franchise is dead. That's like me saying the Mario franchise is dead because of that disaster of a game called Mario Galaxy. But I still love the franchise for the good games in it. OP, maybe you should just forget about ODST, it's clouding your judgement of a great franchise.
- Mark - I certainly understand where you are coming from, but when something great takes such a leap off a cliff; it needs to be called out. I feel like Bungie did a disservice to the franchise and their users by jumping the shark on this title. Not to mention the pricing was way off. To give you another example, lots of people liked Happy Days, but the only thing most people remember about the show now was when Fonzie jumped the shark. That was a ridiculous TV moment that became synonymous with failure. I think ODST provided the same moment for the Halo franchise. It is unbelievable to think that we waited so long for them to deliver a terrible game like that. I personally would have fired the game's concept designer. For your grow up comment, piss off. I was trying to help the poor schlep that would spend his/her hard earned money on such a -blam!- title. If you can't appreciate that, then get over it.
Well then you are obviously a very negative person. If you feel the need to call out negatives in things and let them ruin things, then you need to change your perspective. If you went on holiday for a week and had a great time, and then in the last day something bad happens, would you let it ruin the whole week? And no, I will not piss off. Firstly, why do you think it is overpriced? Secondly, do you even appreciate stuff like the characters and the story, or did you just decide it was terrible for whatever reason without paying attention to those things? I am intrigued

For all of you posters that think ODST was so great, let me ask you a couple of questions. How many titles in the franchise feature Orbital Drop Shock Troopers as the main character? How many other games are minus the spartan? You can't have a Halo game without spartans. End of story. Bungie knows this now and that is why you will never see a Halo game without spartans again.

Always pointing the finger at others, while ignoring your own actions and words. I deal with immature idiots like you every day.
Posted by: SEAL Sniper 9
Posted by: TheEasy1JM Price is the main consideration when BUYING a game. You should think about that sometime when you aren't thinking about hurt butts. The game sucked period. The game scored 83 on metacritic which means that it was a mediocre title. In fact it only scored 1 point higher than Halo Wars which you snot-nosed fanboys love crying about. Most of you hated Halo Wars, can you really say that ODST was that much better. LOL Well, sorry to disappoint you, but I'm not some snot-nosed Halo fanboy and I loved Halo Wars. Once again, LOL. An entire franchise being dead to you after one game? lolz...I feel bad for you.
I feel bad for your family.

You're just butthurt over the price tag. It's completely clouded your judgement. If you forgot about the price tag, focused on ODST's amazing campagin and fun co-op Firefight that actually emphasizes teamwork I don't think you'd suck so bad. The basis of your entire argument is just the price.
Posted by: Arbitor 259
Posted by: JCaboose33 Should I buy Halo 3: ODST? I've alredy got Combat Evolved Anniversary, 3 and Reach. ODST costs $49 at my local JBHIFI, should I get it?
cost $10 at gamestop
It is so awesome that it costs $4.99 at most places that I've checked.

That would be an incorrect assumption.
Posted by: wcd45 This is a very old topic and I'm sure that the OP no longer monitors it, but I have found the key flaw in his argument. He played it in co-op. Can ODST be played with 4 peope? Yes. Should it? No. This game should be played on your own as it was intended.
Halo 3: ODST is a master piece. My favourite game of all time. [Edited on 04.10.2012 11:49 AM PDT]

I personally find ODST an amazing game. Despite the graphics not being as advanced as Reach's, I preferred them. The storyline was interesting, but I must admit that I was horribly reluctant to play it at first: it was my second Xbox game and I was creeped out by the night-time ambience. When I started playing it late last year, I was amazed at how naïve I had been. ODST is sheer awesomeness. Despite how good Reach's firefight is, it still doesn't quite reach the awe I was struck by when I completed 3 Sets with my friends. I spent a few weeks trying to find and compose a gametype in Reach akin to ODST's firefight; none of them quite passed muster. The adventure of the nighttime missions is something not present in other games. Another thing is the music. The oh-so-very Marty-you've-done-it-again-but-even-better-this-time music. I envisage every wonderful and tumultuous moment of campaign with each note played. In summation, ODST's music, local multiplayer, campaign, and inclusion of all Halo 3 MP maps have given it a special place in my game drawer. Thank you Bungie! (And anyway, the Slipspace explosion started in the sky. They needed to fix that dome anyway! What better way to profit than to build an entire game around a graphical edit? :D)

Halo odst is one of my favourite halo's to date, equal to reach i'd say, but you complain its ro expensive i got my copie for $20 brand new with every halo 3 map expansion. odst itself is better than halo 3.ypu are a F@#$&*G sook whi needs to build a bridge and get over it. and for the odst fans out there can't wait till odst 2. CYA ( ODST FTW!!)

Bungie originally set the price at either $20 or $40 (I can't remember which). Microsoft, however, saw a potential for major profit and raised the price to $60 and called it a full game. My opinion: I thought ODST was pretty good. It had a campaign unlike any other Halo, new twists on familiar weapons, and a brand new Firefight mode. It also introduced a team aspect that Halo players lack when playing as a lone wolf for three games. [Edited on 01.16.2012 6:01 AM PST]
