Covenant Weapons
Does anyone have any clue what the new covenant weapon is that pictured on one of the Halo 2 screenshots? I have heard it may be a sniper but it doesn't seem to have a long enough barrel.

If it's not a sniper rifle then i feel it would be a single shot projectile weapon, it looks to streamlined to be a plasma rifle.

The barrel does look too small to be a sniper rifle but you never know. It has the potential to be a SR and I wouldn't be surprised if it was one.

No, that is definitaly not the plasma sniper rifle. If you watch the evolution of halo they show the old modle for the plasma sniper rifle and it looks pretty wired, im expecting it to look like that,

maybe its a covenant shotgun.....maybe.

they way i was using the needler as a reference was that it fired solid projectiles not energy it use's energy to guide the projectiles, i was trying to say that maybe this new weapon fired projectiles, but it would need to use energy some how because of the advanced technology of the covenant, because they do not use the same method of gun powder as us.

Abit like a shotgun you mean. Looking back also how it's said how the covenant have a weapon similar to each of our own and vice versa, where does the needler fit in?

Perhaps, but i think it maybe more of a direct fire wepon, not necessarily a sniper weapon but something in the single fire category?

if it is a sniper rifle it probalbly use's close to the same technology as the orbital MAC cannons, it would use energy to propel a solid projectile almost like the needler only at a greater velocity?

To me the weapon does look like a new plasma rifle, but with bungie you never know.

There is always a counterweapon in Halo for everything (Pistol, plasma pistol, AR, plasma rifle, rocket launcher, feul rod gun.) That would kick BLAM.

In the same general thread, does anyone know what bungie is doing with the Brute's weapon? First Strike says it is a grenade launcher, but the in the demo it seemed way to weak.

There is absolutely no evidence (comfirmed that is) that it's any type of sniper rifle... The closest thing we can use to speculate it is that one Frankie update were he mentions a gun we've seen and not talked about, all he said is that it has a scope and some other cool stuff.. (beware, scope doesn't automatically equal a sniper rifle. The rocket laucher has a scope for example) But he didn't specificaly say it was that gun, so it can only be seen as speculation for the time being...

It does seem to have a scope I agree, but I still think that the barrel would be too small, plus why would two elites guarding a door be carrying sniper rifles?

I read about it a bloodgulch.com and its supposed to be a covenant sniper rifle with a scope. the barrel is long enough. Just look at the plasma rifle,plasma pistol, and needler. barely barrels. Plus covenant technology is superior and different than ours.
