That's the only one I ever use to get tabs.

It is also the most widely used tab site.

 • Guitars are fun to play, i got mine two years ago. (I still suck but thats beside the point) What i suggest is you go to your local music shop (or just a guitar shop if you have one) and ask if anyone is giving lessons. Thats the best way to start, if you want to sound good, there are two people who are gods at the guitar. Jimi Hendrix (of course) and Steve Vai. Oh, and Mx Tabs is my favorite site for tabs. Thats Http://Mxtabs.net

 • I never took lessons. I actually learned how to play from the tabs on mxtabs.net.

 • Sweet Home Alabama - Lynyrd Skynyrd is a good one. Take it Easy - The Eagles is also a good easy one. If you want to learn something really hard, Master of Puppets - Metallica will piss you off. Especially when you get up to the solo. Stick to the easy stuff first though so you don't get too frustrated.

I play by ear mostly and check the tabs later to see how close I got. Try Powertabs. You can download the Powertab program and also download files and make your own. Check it out man. [Edited on 6/17/2005]

Stick to the easy stuff first though so you don't get too frustrated.
Oh, my gosh. That song is freakin' hard (especially when you try and play it on an acoustic :P). The only part that I'd consider to be remotely easy is the first four chords. From then on, it gets tough. Battery and Damage, Inc. are pretty tough, too. Welcome Home (Sanitarium) is, at least for the rhythm guitar part, fairly easy. mxtabs.net is a good site, but a lot of the tabs are inaccurate. I guess you can use that as a strengh, though, because it makes you better at playing by ear and picking out different parts. Here's another idea...it helped me a lot with learning different techniques, distortion guitar control, and just plain getting better. Go out and buy "The Better Life" by 3 Doors Down, and then get the guitar book that goes with it. Then, go through and practice the songs and play along with the CD. It works wonders.

 • I have a nice Ovation Celebrity and I love to get down to some James Tayor and The Rolling Stones. And for easy songs any of the new pop punk crap that these kids listen to today is pretty easy. My favorite easy song is Paint it Black by the Stones

 • What are you playing on? I currently play a Fender Strat with my PODxt. Mainly I use headphones so I don't piss off my fiance and the neighbors. I recommend doing stuff like building strength and speed (both right and left hands). you can find tabs for this online, just do a google search. A good one I used to do for like 5-10 minutes at a time is doing hammer ons/offs with all 4 fingers down the fret board. Then I'd play some stuff for awhile, and go back to that or another exercise. I'm not sure what kind of person you are, but I was never one to be able to sit through a 30min to 1hr lesson (either by myself or with a teacher). I prefered to play and mix in some lessons now and then. don't bother with Master of Puppets, it's too fast. But the spider crawl at the begining is actually a very good tool to build speed and strength once you get going. Playing from tabs you find online is pretty damn good, but beware that more often than not the tabs won't be right. Or the person will have no idea how to write a proper tab. I pick up books at Guitar Center when I get a chance, especially if it's stuff I really want to learn and not just mess around with.

 • Hey, is that PODxt worth the 400$? I wanted one a while back, but I only really want some kick ass distortions and sweet blues tones. More on topic, dont just play power chords, learn solos and blues scales. Black Sabbath's Tonni Iommi (sp?) has some sweet blues solos, plus their really easy to figure out and play once you understand his style. Come to think of it, all of Ozzy's guitarists kick ass.....

 • I'd advise learning your scales for a start off and then basic chords; and lets face it most songs these days are all power chords and no skill!

 • I would disagree with you there Normenator. You just don't know where to look. Take for example The Mars Volta they are probobly the best band out at this time but by todays standards they are not good because they are not played on Fuse or TRL. You may have to look for the good music because maybe they don't want the brainless masses saying " I like love that mars volta band they are lix SOO COOL they ROXXXORS MY SOXXXORS BIGGXXXXORS"
