Halo 2 Worldwide Champion
The Xbox Live sponsored Halo 2 Worldwide Championship kicked off several months ago as players in 24 different countries began competing to crown regional winners. A series of mini events continued throughout each country until eventually one single person was chosen to represent in the world finals.
Today the finals took place over Xbox Live in a series of matches that would separate the best of the best and set the stage for the grand finale. While nobody at Bungie was in attendance for the finals, our contacts on the Live team did pass along some information regarding todays games.
The final pool of players came down to Japan, Germany, Netherlands, USA, France and Australia. The player from Japan won his heat giving the American, Aussie and French players their second loss and eliminating them from the competition. In the following round, Germany suffered their second defeat setting the stage for a Japan vs. Netherlands world finale.
Apparently it was a close match but King Tuur of the Netherlands pulled ahead and never looked back. Congratulations to Mr. Tuur who becomes the first ever Worldwide Halo 2 Champion and also the proud recipient of a 50" Samsung DLP HDTV, a Samsung DVD Player/Recorder, a personalized world champion trophy (featuring a 24k gold Halo 2 game disc) AND $1,500 in cash. Good stuff.

Hey i wanna see Mitch99 play 1 on 1 or head 2 head with King Tuur, i want 2 see how good Tuur really is and Mitch your right there are a lot of people who would have owned him here in U.S but i don't think that we could have beaten Japan but we probably could of.

I think that people from different countries are always going to pick on each other. So, I suggest we all diss the same one to vent or frustration together. I'll throw out the first one: Antarctica sucks! I bet they have a piss-poor Halo community as well. P.S.- I think a team championship would be pretty cool, so all different skills can be showcased in a variety of situations. (Not like I'd be good enough to get there) That would be something to see

haha this wasn't his first tournament he won. He one more tournaments than anyone else. So shut the -blam!- up mitch and go search a life. Right now King Tuur is the best player in the world because he won a world championship. not you, not stk, but king tuur. Even if STK was in this championship they wouldn't have won from King Tuur because King Tuur is so much better. And uhm... billions??? It would be better if you said: A lot of people that wouldn't have a chance against King Tuur couldn't play in this tournament. I don't call anyone a noob, nut it's just that most of the americains I meet are like that. I know not all americains are like that. Every country has his -blam!-s, but most of them I meet are americains. I've been in San Fransisco (WCG2004) and I've talked a lot with some amercain guys who weren't arrogant at all. They showed respect like everyone should. And the older people will probably be some more respectfull indeed.
