Yellow Text

So Achronos made a semi-official statement today on my thread over in Zanzibar as to why the MLG playlist won't be added. Of course, it's drawn an inordinate amount of attention in the hours since. I wonder what the reasoning behind the special Bungie rep symbol next to threads they post in was. It seems to me that it makes anything you see in yellow an official Bungie statement of policy, when sometimes things may be spoken in the moment. Of course, I know that the Bungie reps are aware of the effect their yellow goodness has, but I was curious if there was a major reason why this was implemented.

 •
Posted by: Gods Prophet Yes. I think i have to agree with what Recon said. The gold Septagon symbol is appearing more and more oftern. And you know what Recon, i totaly agree with you in that the no of threads entitled "Pleeeeease BUNGIE READ!!!!!!" are going down due to this new system. Again, these opionions are my own (and Recon's)
What you said...

 • I can only offer my opinion on the reasoning behind the change (which I like actually). The Golden Septagon symbol (same as at the top of this forum) is a great way to see that something of interest has occurred. We used to have a whole lot more "hey Bungie, read this" threads. They seem to have reduced in number lately. I suspect that because we are now able to tell at a glance that Bungie not only reads the forums, but replies with surprising frequency into many threads on various forums with widely varying topics. The text color is a logical continuation of that. Golden Septagon = look for the gold text. Hell, finding a Bungie statement (in gold) is now easier than finding similarly colored warthogs and banshees. Personally I would love a Marathon symbol for ninja-visited threads. It might make it harder for some threads that sometimes "slip beneath the radar" when we can see which ones have been visited and replied to by a fellow ninja. A potential downside is that we tend to tease each other a bit and we might end up "hijacking" threads. As far as the potential for mis-statements being made, that risk always exists. Everyone here is human after all. Things that moderators say should be seen as vital and important if they relate to these forums. Anything else by us (with the Shishka exception) should be understood to be a statement by a Bungie-fan, not a Bungie-employee. (I know that you knew that Happymeal). The Bungie team members are actually acutely aware of how a single word or phrase can be taken to a horrible conclusion. I would have to say that they are all very gifted at keeping their statements focused, accurate and consistent, even between various employees. If there is conflict or a lack of consistency, I would imagine the new system would allow it to be shown and then an "official-official" statement would declare the correct Bungie-line and clear things up. As I am constantly doing (to cover my ass) those are just my opinions, observations and best guesses based on my experience here. I do not speak for or on behalf of Bungie, only myself. But I'd like to think that my guesses are based on good observations. So far so good!
