Fallout 3. Is it really that bad?
Ok. After the long, anticipated release for Fallout 3, I am unsure whether I can play it or not.
Before I played it I red an IGN review on it and they said, "This is not a game for kids" (Im 13). They said that specificially because some of the choices you make when being the [i]bad guy[/i] are really difficult to make. I respect that, but after such a long wait for the next fallout game, made by bethseda, who made the loved oblivion. I am peeved.
So, my question. Is it really that bad? And if it is, what if you are the good guy? Can it affect you that much?
If so. Its respect that, and I wont play it.

If you had Oblivion, Fallout 3 isn't much worse. Just the gore, and language, and violence.

But if allowed, I will definately rent. And plus. I really hated the IGN review because they were making the game sound so good. They were making it sound like the best game ever. But what did they say in the end? Not for kids. *sniff*

I'm 15, and it is one of my favourite games. The gore is a bit over the top, with limbs flying off if you shoot at them. Swearing is pretty common, but not every sentence like GTA. The bad guy choices are really easy most of the time. Your choices affect how people act around you. So if you kill someone, everybody will try to stop you, but if you do something not as bad like stealing, it won't affect you as much.

I respect you being responable about this for i am 2 years younger than you and i play it though. Okay heres a breakdown: There is much, much gore if you discide to be bad you can blow off limbs and ect, but if you really are good it's not bad people respect you, you are awarded in many ways but many encounters you cannot talk your way through and they will shoot you on sight. These examples would be Raiders, Super munants, Enclave soldiers and any mutated creatures you find in the wastes. But like i do, you can aquire followers that will, well follow you and attack anything hostile to you. So it's up to you, be mature and enjoy the game if you play it. If not thats alright theres other games. Oh by the way the last level is very gorey and dismemernt filled but luckly that is your enemy and your not doing it!

My friend who loved the first Gears thinks L4D is leagues better then Gears 2 But on topic, if you played Oblivion, Fallout is hardly worse content-wise then it [Edited on 12.15.2008 5:49 PM PST]

The game wasn't designed for kids, but Fallout 1 and especially 2 were much much worse and I played them when I was 13 and younger. There are a lot of somewhat disturbing images and concepts in the game like cannibalism, slavery, and vampirism, not to mention the wanton and gratuitous violence and occasional cuss word (Fallout 2 had way more foul language) Frankly I was more disturbed with Saints Row 2, that game crossed some lines with me, but I still like it. The latest Fallout game is kind of watered down compared to it's previous iterations, most likely because of all the negative attention violent video games have had in the last few years. Like seriously, you can't even blow some snot-nosed kids head off in this one!
