Dark Souls 2: lack of invasions

Anyone else notice a severe lack of dark spirit invasions? Maybe this is because the brotherhood of blood covenant is semi-hidden behind an optional boss. Whatever the case, I'm tired of not being able to find anyone to protect whenever I'm a knight of the blue. How many of you guys are actually invading? I think I'm going to make a character specifically for invasions to hopefully influence more people to do it.
