In horrible disrepair, Xero suffered what appared to be massive blunt force trauma to the head and torso, as well as suffering intense heat scarring to external and internal components. It is unknown if the personality matrix is currently recoverable or able to be reprogrammed. Dead Orbit Manufacturers LTD. is currently unaware if Unit Gaiyan Xero was present for the Cabal invasion or suffered the damage "post-mortem". Due to the current lack of Guardian strength, Gaiyan Xero is scheduled for repair but, due to the massive amount of damage to the chasis and mainframe, it may be postponed until higher funds can be acquired or the dispute with Seven Seraphs can be settled without further litigation. Lanthua Kane, a representative and Hunter class Guardian with Dead Orbit had this to say: "We at Dead Orbit strive for perfection in our Exo units, making them bigger and stronger every year. [b]//FILE COMPLETE//[/b] [b]//RECEIVING ATTATCHMENT//[/b] [b]//ATTATCHMENT FOLLOWS//[/b] The Gaiyan series was first developed in the early years of the Mars colonization project, focusing on heavy chasis and hydraulic systems for heavy labor and construction projects. They were powerful but slow and clumsy machines dedicated to the service of mankind. It wasn't until the Xero chip was installed in the central mainframe of the Gaiyan units that they became more than Neolithic machines, allowing them to transcend to a higher state with greater cognitive capacity and emotional awareness. The emotional factor brought on by the Xero chip caused many of the Exo constructs to "feel" the need to protect instead of service, question instead of obey, create instead of construct. The confusion in the processing units that ensued was written off as "malfunctioning equipment" by Dead Orbit Manufacturing LTD. and many of the Gaiyan Xero units were decommissioned or recalled. The GX units refused the recall. Dead Orbit began an immediate hunt for all malfunctioning units. Then the Cabal appeared, millions died in a matter of hours. As humanity's grip on Martian soil fell limp and cold, the military scattered and devastated, the remaining GX rose to the challenge. The last known records of the events on Mars are inconclusive, however, Dead Orbit proudly displays an image in their headquarters, which also provides the background for the GX Exo program campaign banner, of a handful of GX units holding off a swarm of Cabal warriors while a single civilian evac ship blasts off the last undamaged launch pad on Mars (presumably at the Blood Gulch outpost operated by Seven Seraphs) and is never heard from again. Since the addition of the Xero chip to the Gaiyan model Exo, much controversy has circled around the Exo in general, more so the questions into Dead Orbit and their relationships with Future War Cult and Seven Seraphs. One thing however has become clear. The GX sacrificed themselves to save the very humans who wanted them destroyed. The call of the Exo Guardian was born.
