BECOME LEGEND VOLUME II ANNOUNCEMENT It’s time once more, Guardians. With Destiny’s launch less than two months away, we’re faced with the end of an era: the era of life Before Destiny. Very soon, we’ll have answers to mysteries that have intrigued us - answers that will undoubtedly inspire our imaginations in whole, new ways. - So, before we get those answers, we want to create one last volume of the community’s purest, unhindered imaginations of what Destiny just might be: it’s time, writers, to pen [b]Become Legend 2[/b]! Just like last time, we’re teaming up with Aloki and the imaginative Black Garden to build this ebook! Volume II is going to be bigger and badder than the original. We’re changing the organizational structure and are hoping even more authors, poets, and artists will join the project to make a tome worthy of this community. Building upon the greatness of the first, we ask you to get creating right away! We also ask you to storm the Beta if you’re able, and channel the lore you learn from in-game into your stories - if you choose to do so. To steal the mic from me is Fantastic Jackie. She’s got a nifty FAQ with all the rules and requirements for the stories of [b]Become Legend 2[/b]. Rules and FAQ for Submission [b]Q: How many people read the first Become Legend?[/b] A: It is incalculable, but the document was accessed thousands of times by [i]at least[/i] hundreds of unique readers within the first week and is still garnering hits today. This is based purely off our website statistics; there were many, many places that [b]Become Legend’s[/b] link was posted, and the document itself we cannot track. Access means reading right then and there or downloading the whole doc. [b]Q: When can I submit my story and where?[/b] A: From July 11 – August 15. You may submit your stories as a comment to this thread or as a reply to the article on hddispatch.net. You can also email them to us at BecomeLegendDD@gmail.com. [b]Q: What is the topic of Become Legend 2?[/b] A: Like the first [b]Become Legend[/b], Number Two will be split into three chapters. Instead of Tenants of belief as we did last time, we’re asking for stories based of one of these chronological periods: [b][i][u]The Golden Age, The Collapse, or The Reclamation.[/u][/i][/b] You may interpret these periods in any way you choose. [b]Q: What if I want to do a chapter story that spans all three periods?[/b] A: That would be awesome! Please contact us before you do so, though. Suffice it to say that maintaining your continuity among a sea of short stories will be a challenge, so we’d like a heads up, please! [b]Q: May I write multiple stories for Become Legend 2?[/b] A: You may, however we will only accept one. We want to fit as many writers and stories as possible! [b]Q: I’m a poet or an artist, not a narrator. How can I be a part of this?[/b] A: Be yourself! We can’t get enough poetry or art for [b]Become Legend[/b]! If you’re an artist, you have three options: 1 – Team up with a writer and illustrate something from their story 2 – Contact us, and we’ll work to “assign” (let you choose) a story that needs art 3 – Interpret one of the time periods with your art, and we’ll find a writer to take inspiration from you [b]Q: What about us musicians?![/b] A: Contact us! <3 [b]Q: Is there a minimum and maximum word count?[/b] A: Yes, though it does not apply to poets. The minimum word count is generally in the neighborhood of 1000 words, though shorter stories may be accepted based on quality. The maximum word count is 12,500 words. If you’re having trouble with these limits, send us a PM, and we’ll work it out! [b]Q: Is my story that details my Guardian’s bio and history acceptable?[/b] A: In and of itself, no. Please do tell us about your Guardian or character, but within the context of a story, not just as a history lesson or baseball card! [b]Q: How does editing work?[/b] A: We highly recommend teaming up with another writer and beta-ing each other’s stories! Share, Create, and Become Buddies! That said, all stories that are chosen to be added to [b]Become Legend 2[/b] will go through an editing process of 4 Destiny Dispatch writers/editors. Your story may be edited based on grammatical errors, repetitive word choice, or other technical errors without us contacting you. If we feel editing needs to go beyond that, we will contact you. [b]Q: Last time, my story was accepted, but I never got any feedback from readers. Will that change?[/b] A: Hopefully, yes. We can’t mandate anyone leave a review for you, but we can link back to your profile here on Bnet so readers can find you. There are other things we’re considering, too. I can also tell you that we received many, many compliments on the stories within [b]Become Legend[/b], and every tale had multiple someones who thought it was the best. [b]Q: Will every story submitted within the rules be accepted?[/b] A: Sadly no. Though we don’t have a limit on how long we want [b]Become Legend 2[/b] to be, we do need to strive for balance across the chapters and avoid stories that may be too close to each other.
