Web Hosting and Domain Purchasing

Hey so I'm trying to get my own portfolio website up and running by this weekend and I've been doing some research into different web hosts and who to buy my domain from. I was thinking of buying my domain from Nearly Free Speech instead of GoDaddy (because GoDaddy's been known to do some shady dealings in the past) and was looking into several web hosting services such as BlueHost, A Small Orange, Media Temple, Dream Host, and a few others, but I'm pretty indecisive. I've had a few people recommend BlueHost to me, but after looking into it, BlueHost seems to be a Mormon based company and does not allow profanity or adult content on their websites.
4. Profanity. Profanity or profane subject matter in the site content and in the domain name are prohibited.
I don't think I'd really break that rule in the TOS enough for them to notice or care, but supporting a hosting service like that doesn't seem like the right way to go. I've also considered trying Nearly Free Speech for a month to see how I like it, but I'd rather have a web host with an email service just in case. So have any of you dealt with web hosting and what are your preferences? And how zee -blam!- do you make public thread from here?

 • I used GoDaddy for about a year to host a now-defunct minecraft server forum. Never had any problems, and I really liked how easy it was to contact support for any problems.
