So now that Titanfall is Public...

... At least for the Xbox One, I don't feel bad about sharing stuff about it. Loving this game, and had an awesome moment a few minutes ago where I basically got a Perfection Medal in their version of Team Slayer (over 15-0, win the game, good stuff). Adoring this game. Originally I was scared it would play like Call of Duty, since it was 'Call of Duty with parkour and mechs.' But after playing I realized... this plays absolutely nothing like that game, nor any other game I've played thus far. Surprisingly, it's a unique twist on some old concepts and is incredibly fun. I'll definitely be picking it up now. So who'll be actually buying this thing? A shame it comes out the same day as Dark Souls 2, but ah well. Glad to see a military shooter mixing up the formula so much. Also totally sharing an awesome DIVEUH-KICKUH moment I had in the link. I like how the game tells me it was awesome when it was actually something awesome, rather than just every time I kick a guy. Pretty legit, there. This is a game that is really good at making you feel... well... good.

 • I played my first match after a work shift when I was really flat... and got utterly curb-stomped. Since then I've played several more matches and fallen in love with the game as I got to grips with it. It does feel similar to other FPSs, particularly the Infinity Ward 1.0/Respawn CoD games... At least until the light goes off in your head and you start to exploit the wall running, double jumping, Titan riding and Titans. Once you get that it changes things up quite a bit - you start watching the roofs, windows, stairs, depressions, basements, etc. The weapons are interesting and varied, and there's definitely depth to using them - particularly the smart pistol. Even the Titans have more to them than meets the eye - originally you kinda think you need to be in them and will be a near invulnerable lumbering behemoth... But you VERY quickly realise the reality is almost completely different - you're a big target, need to find cover, have to keep moving, and are vulnerable to enemy titans and pilots (with their anti-titan weapons and ability to jump on your back and start shooting your power core). In a superficial way it reminds me of Bungie's statement in regards to Destiny that "something can be powerful... so long as there's a way to deal with it." I'm really looking forward to this coming out in full.
