RNG, is it really all we think?
Hi fellow thorny guardians.
I just want to show you guys something I saw on the forums which I think may be true about RNG.

Take yesterday for example. We complete nightfall, I get 6 strange coins for 206 kills, he gets gjallarhorn v2 (which I already have) for 67 kills, we complete crotas end. One of us gets shards, he gets 2 bits of raid armor and song of it yut for 50 kills! Whilst we're knocking out 400+!
It's the same in the crucible. He's won 2 exotics in that, I have never EVER even been awarded a legendary.
So Bungie please don't say you're loot system is random, because the evidence strongly suggests it isn't. This game simply awards weaker players. And because of it some are losing faith and don't want to play. Can we please have something that rewards skill? Can the nightfall please drop a guranteed exotic even if it's only radiant stuff.[/quote]
I feel that this is true because since October I feel my skills in destiny have gotten better. But at the same time I have had no exotic weapons since being better at destiny. I have gotten heaps of legendary stuff but no exotics since October.
What do you guys think?
Do you think it's true that RNG is random or do you think it only gives to the not as good players?

5 RepliesI don't know if anyone else has had this occur, but I notice a slight increase in chance of getting an engram (any color) when I kill the enemy with a precision shot, maybe I'm just lucky? When I'm just throwing bullets at enemies, on patrol for instance, I don't see as many. But when I take my time with my shots, I swear I see more.

Everyone I play with have come to the same conclusion that it rewards the bad players based after seeing it happen over and over again. Every vex I've seen drop, they have all been awarded to the bottom player of the raid. Same also happens in pvp, I have seen countless exotics and legendary items awarded to players in the game with sub 0.5 k/d holding up the bottom of the team, very very few awarded otherwise. And then there is the strike playlists... There is no way it's RLG especially with how bungie acts about there game progression. Even if they strait up came out and admitted it worked like that they wouldn't change it.

2 RepliesIf you look at my profile you can see i attempted the raid many times. I think 28? Anyways, I only completed it once on normal and I thought nothing much of it but I was excited that I got chatterwhite. The second raid I completed I decided to do it on hard mode (yesterday) because I was bored. No doubt I did HORRIBLE. lol I was able to clutch the minotaurs from summoning themselves to the spire (the part before atheon spawns) and when we killed atheon I was awarded the vex Mythoclast. Do I support this statement? Yes, because I think the RNG favors players who NORMALLY do bad. If you took the standard deviation of bad performing players and they fall 1 to 2 deviations below the median, then RNG is much more to their favor. It is a system that makes players equal, know what I'm saying? You can't constantly reward better performing players because otherwise they'll be too good to the point where people will want nerfs and such.

Completely agree, majority of good stuff drops to lowest, and in crucible? I've literally seen gjallerhorn drop 8 times, to people on the losing team, with the bottom 3 lowest score. Typically .5 kd or lower.

I keep seeing the same thing over and over the more I scroll down the comments list. All of you whiny "experienced" guardians are getting upgrade materials while your "crappy" fire team members are getting all the goods. This is just a theory, but Maybe the game looks at your inventory, and uses that as a bases to determine your available loot table for the raid. Think about it, if your carrying an exotic weapon for every slot that isn't maxed out. The game will see this as you needing mats rather than the great weapons you want. I've only been playing casually since November. I finished a crucible game on top with at least a 3.0 K/D, and received a Monte Carlo. yea I felt like a badass lol. It's my only exotic right now. I'm only a 28 with some rare gear still, but I usually finish top two in my strikes, and have gotten some legendary engrams How many of you are carrying all of your exotics in your inventory?

me and my buddy would play roughly the same amount per week and he got 4 vanguard bountys hardlight from the nightfall and mida multi tool from crotas end not to mention the chest and 3 husk of the pits all at the same time i got the raid gloves and i farmed for the husk for hours and beat raids and nightfall with 2 characters and got very lil legens and no exotic

I think that every player have a number. In this case RNG would know, You are #1 your chances are 20-40% to get always something new You are #2 your chances are 10-20% to get always something new Why u think this? I played with a lot of different groups and it is always the same. You have 1 player who get's almost everything Then you have the play who get's nothing Then you have the players between them, who have an awesome week and get's everything and then they have weeks without anything. I still don't believe in this RNG and you need luck. Why? Because only a small amount of ppl are really getting what they want! And Why are this the ppl who have almost everything good, Awesome Legendary drops with godlike perks 3 Ghorns 6 Vexes 5 IceBreakers 6 Thunderlors Endless Raid gear and i mean endless Raid gear And so on And so on Their are Guardians who are that extrem blessed that i believe IT IS NOT RANDOM Example, Month 1 1000 players get #1 30-40% 10000 players get #2 20-30:% 100000 players get #3 10-20% 1000000 players get #4 1-10% Maybe it is for a week, because i also had 1 or 2 Weeks in 4 months where my drops rate was unreal. FateBringer Ghorn Vog Helmet Pathience and Time Vex in one Week Then a month without any drop but seeing 10ppl getting Hawkmoon from strike playlist.

1 ReplyMy friend and i were in rumble I won the game And he was the last with 3 kills He got the suros regime while i got nothing After a week or so we played again same thing happened but he got hawkmoon Am not mad or anything it just feels wrong And maybe its cuz ther r trying to help noobs out who knows Am lvl 32 hunter So am fine with it but i did everything alot and a friends who sucks did raid once with lowest kills and highest kills got Blackhammer helmet legs chest in one raid and he already had an exotic gauntlet so he was lvl 32 in no time

2 RepliesI got the Monte Carlo before the v2 update and that was with a 27 kill crucible game. I was the best man around. Also, I get some rewards from the nightfall and I'm usually mid for kills and highest death

I agree 100 percent ive been playing this game since day 1... got my first legendary in late november. Just claimed my first exotic rewards a couple days ago during the nightfall. All the other pieces I have ive bought from xur. Im lvl31 and have yet to get an exotic weapon ive only gotten legendary weapons and armor last month. Remember I been playing since november. I havent grinded as hard as most but when I play I put it WORK, while I see shitty kids who always need help get exotics left and right. We need a better reward system #bungie

I have purposely lost in the crucible and became last 7 out of 10 matches and all I got were rare engrams however the middle player got exotics and legendary engrams. I have played the raid and I have had the highest amount of kills and the lowest. I have died the least and the most to test this theory and guess what?? Still no exotic drops only shards. I ran through a raid with the highest kill ratio every one opens the same chest and saw everyone get the Hard Light and ice breaker and all I got were shards. Something is wrong with that picture it's either I have the worst luck, Bungie hates me or I always miss the window when a good exotic drops. Its getting really frustrating when I finish every raid, every weekly strike and every nightfall and not one exotic drop. Bungie what else do I need to do??????

1 ReplyI think it maybe rewards the players on the bottom because bungee figured it'd even the playing fields of skill vs equipment the better you play there's you'll require the better gear to still be decent at the game but the less skilled players would need the exotics to keep on par with the more skilled players. Still think it's unfair but nit much I can do about it.

Me personally, i think this is true. I get more kills and assists in nightfall than anyone of my friends and i get shit. I play crucible and have ended up in first countless times, i cant even remember how many times ive come in first, and have gotten nothing. Yet i see the worst player on my teams get awarded the best shit over and over again. Even the aim assist is so big in this game that noobs are on an even playing field with the best when they get lucky. I believe activision told bungie to make this game favorable completely towards noobs and the best players get nothing unless they do poorly or go AFK. Why do i say activision? Because look at COD. Everyone is on the same playing field and thats what COD successful. Even the noobs can compete, and thats what they did here except target the loot system.

Personally I don't think so. I know plenty of really good players who get exotics all the time. Me and my group (5 people), we all usually get exotics but our best players usually get the exotics. Our weak players still get exotics but not as often as our good players.

6 RepliesI feel like the game somehow is in your mind let me tell you why. It is Friday I just got back from work I jump right in and do the night fall not hoping for to much since I never get anything except for energies so after kill missile man and I say all I want Is something exotic and boom hawk moon I am so happy you wouldn't believe so I'm happy with the game again and play with hawk moon for the rest of Friday Saturday morning I need to do crota raid full run through. To this point I have had no raid armor drops so first chest nothing I beat the thrall part and boom gauntlets so right there I'm happy next is the bridge and again I get nothing then we finally beat crota and I get five loot drops the helmet the ship hunger of crota and another cryptographic shader and finally some shards (is that even possible)? So I'm happy again then I go into the level 26 strike playlist and I get a legendary primary engram and I get those left and right in those so it's average then the next strike boom I get mida multi tool and that's the second exotic drop in two days so I'm happy and imaditly go an level it with bounties, but before that decrypt my engram and what dose that legendary turn into? Boom hardlight an db this was all when I was thinking about moving on from destiny has this ever happened to anybody else?

I got vex mythoclast and I was actually doing the best in the raid so I think it's RNG u just gotta keep playing for your chances

I run with a crew of 10-12 people. There's 3 of us that put in way more time than the others including myself. And we have the best weapons and are the strongest from the clan. I actually do think it's all RNG and the more you play the better chances of getting an exotic or anything you want.

I took a brake. I can't get anything but repeat drops I think I played to much but I thought that's what I'm supposed to do.. Ur 9 NLB 4 times already Just got hard light two days ago No gally, no praxis, no obsidian and I've been playing from day one. Countless purple engrams that turn into gear for other classes. I've purchased exotic engrams everytime he sells them. I get the same crap for my warlock. I just want to be rewarded for my dedicated play but instead I will start failing and not trying to be the best. I had full Titan gear before I made my Titan I made another warlock due to duplicate drops. Know this. The game craps on you the more you play. They get you hooked and then you find yourself up at four in the morning completing raid runs and grinding for trash. If you are like me put the game down for awhile. maybe, Just maybe they will reward me for a lack of grind. Gone fishing -
Of course it's true. I'm proof. I get the good stuff. At 54 my reflexes ain't what they used to be. So you want the rich to get richer and the poor to get poorer? :)

2 RepliesUnfortunately without a bigger pool of loot tables to draw from it can't be determined properly. At times it can feel like RNG screws you everytime and rewards the other people that didn't do crap. Sadly that is the burden of RNG systems. Personally wish they'd just give us exotics that had chances to roll different perks, this would cause people to keep farming for that perfect exotic. But instead they made every Ghorn and icebreaker the exact same and that's all we see at higher levels in PvE.

The experiments were with clairvoyance. The old one is done with two people. One person holds up a card and the other, without seeing it, guesses what card is being held up. When moving to a computerized version the results were the same. Some individuals are able to guess or find a card without directly seeing it. Long story short based on some of the data it was suggested that the person was not only guessing correctly, but in some occasions it seemed as though they were able to create an outcome rather than the computer randomly generating one. #metaphysics #E.S.P. #Destiny #Warlock #Bungie #Ghostinthemachine
