Necrochasm needs a major buff
Before I rant I must say that the concept of the Necrochasm is amazing. I mean who doesn't like to see lots of explosions for landing killing headshots? I know I do. I finally earned a Crux of Crota on Monday and it is fun to watch enemies randomly blow up. But there is a major problem if it takes two magazines worth of precision headshots to down one regular hive knight with a red health bar at level six when the character using it is 31 (yes I earned it using my weakest character go figure). You read that right level six knight against a level 31 guardian.
This gun needs to be on par with the Vex Mythoclast. These two guns represent the capstones of rewards from the hardest challenges that this game has to offer. That being said, these exotic guns should make you feel like a god among insects when you use either of them. After all the time and effort needed to acquire them is quite extensive. The benefits of these guns should match the difficulty of obtaining them. The Mythoclast does a very good job of this, despite being heavily nerfed which I don't think it should have been for pve at least and I didn't earn that until a month ago and I have owned this game since day one. I can understand the nerf for the crucible, Iron Banner excluded from that since that is a Crucible playlist made for whatever advancements you have earned in the game. But the Necrochasm? That gun is outclassed by every other raid weapon from Crota's End. It does way too little damage per bullet for the magazine size it has. It definately doesn't live up to the hype or the difficulty of getting it. I had to beat hard mode ten times to get the Crux to drop, and I am in a low percentage of players to earn it at this time. This doesn't help the masses that are still trying really hard to get a Crux to drop so they can have one of their own. This gun needs more to truly feel like I have the symbol that represents that I have dominated Crota's End.
This is just my opinion, but I think any of these options or any combination need to happen to get this gun to live up to it's full hype and glory: increase the magazine size, increase the damage per bullet considerably, and increase the frequency of the cursed thrall explosions caused by precion kills, possibly to 100% if necessary (at the very least altering the explosions make the precision box bigger since this gun likes to fire fast and jump around a lot even with all of the stability perks applied). I This gun doesn't feel like an exotic gun at all with it's current stats, let alone feel like the ultimate trophy from the hardest raid boss in the game to date, never mind the fact that only the upgrade material drops, not the gun itself.
Please do something to get the gun to live up to all the hype.

1 ReplyFor those of you that have necrochasm when equipped, the symbol in the bottom left is the same as a pulse rifle not the auto rifle symbol it should be. Is this another mistake on bungies behalf or on purpose with pulse rifles getting buffed in the next update?

2 RepliesA lot of exotics have this problem. They are exotic in that they pose a unique combination of traits, but they are functionally irrelevant next to readily attainable alternatives.

My suggestion is to buff it's base damage to 354 to match the mythoclasts 23 extra damage. Also, it really only needs a buff to the impact. Unfortunately it's getting nerfed from the new weapons update. I wonder how the developers can even justify this being the new vex, seeing as it's the hardest weapon to obtain in the games current state. How could they have tested it and thought it was even worthy of an exotic? The vex still is better.

It's very bad. Very disappointing Bungie. It's clear this gun was not PLAY tested by anyone and gives more credence to the naysayers who question some of the core decisions being made around this game. You need to separate PvE and PvP. Don't make the hardest gun to get in PvE the worst exotic in the game because you don't want PvP players to scream it's overpowered (pretty sure Crota and his knights don't frequent the forum to QQ). You have a potentially great franchise here. Separate PvE and PvP weapon balance Fix the Necro it's extremely disappointing DO NOT wait until June to release HOW or you will loose a large percentage of your gaming audience (every major streamer is already discussing this with their respective communities)

Not gonna play destiny until house of wolves. The only thing I was playing for was for the Necrochasm, and frankly, it sucks. Got it on friday and it's basically just eidolon ally with cursebringer and more green glow. It's not even useful in the beginning of Crota's end (where you would expect it to be). It has a ton of recoil making it difficult to crit kill, and even if you do, you only have a 3/4 chance of actually triggering a thrall explosion. It's not good. If you're getting it to show off, you can barely tell the difference between it and an eidolon ally. Literally, the only difference is more green glow. Unless they have the weapon, people are probably gonna mistake it for an EA.

13 RepliesI'm good with it as it is or buff. Got Eidolon Ally for now. Got no problem with it in PVE and I do extremely well with it in PVP. So if they buff it, more fun for me in PVE and be killing you a** with it in PVP faster. I support the buff idea if it from PVE player but not from PVP cause you people complain way to Damn much.Some you do have good reason but majority of you just complaining.

3 RepliesYou are right I have stated the same thing except, the curse thrall explosion has a delay which is disappointing. The fact it is just an arc version of firefly also really offends me since the explosion does not change at least firefly happens every time you land a critical kill.yet the exotic is a chance wtf. The mag of 42 for it rof is very low even the legendary atheon epilogue with same rof had 70 rounds in its chamber. The whole weapon needs a tune up from perks to dmg down to its stability to say you farmed tons of nights killed 500 thrall,got eries to rank3 but the orb leveled the legendary all the way up,and then killed Croata multiple times for this was a waste of time and very sad. But to top it off auto rifles get nerfed by another 2.5% yep one weapon that will just build space in my vault until they figure it out or I make it a shard

I feel like to save it, it needs an impact boost, higher base stability, at least a 60 round magazine and a 100% proc chance with Cursebringer. Then I would use it for things other than level 2 enemies on Patrols.
