How to deal with Bladedancers. (Crucible tips)

Are you one of those people who scream "Bladedancer is over powered! Such a noob class, nerf it please!" or something along those lines? Then you might be a beginner to the game, not good at Crucible or troll master race class person. I main Bladedancer and I noticed something when playing him, Bladedancers can destroy people who don't know what their doing. And I mean DESTROY, to the point where it feels like they are over powered when they aren't. Don't believe me? Think back to when you first ran into Bladedancers that made you think he/she was over powered, what did you do when he/she attacked you? Did you just attack him/her head on to watch him/her Blink in front of you and shotgun you? Did you panicked when he/she charged at you with Arc Blade? Or did you sit there wondering how did he/she just one hit melee me? If one of those is close to what happened, then it's not the "over powered" Bladedance fault, it's yours for not knowing what to do. But today, I'm going share some tips on how to deal with Bladedances. First up, let's talk about their super. A Bladedancers Arc-blade is sorta of a hard super to deal with. It's also the easiest to deal with. So what do you do when one charges at you? Well, here are some tips. 1. Keep a line of sight on him and keep moving away from him. Breaking that line of sight means you can't see how close he is to you. Which is something you want to know. 2. Don't stop shooting, keep shooting till he's dead but make sure your still moving away from him. You may just want to hip fire at him as that will be a lot easier to move and shot. 3. Jump when he's about to hit you, time this right and you will dodge him attack. When doing this, wait till he's about to hit you then jump forward, this will cause him to lunge under you. This may also cause the Bladedancer to be confused. He will start thinking "where did you go?' 4. After you jump, stay in the air. Bladedancers will have a hard time hitting air targets. (A big thing about this is to make sure your not a slow moving target while in the air, you will then become a easy target to kill. Try staying in the air for a second or two then fall then jump back into the air, This will make you a harder target to kill in the air. Even though you might be harder to hit, it's still possible for the Bladedancer to hit you, but you'll be hard to hit.) 5. If your not confident that you will be able to kill him or win the fight, run for it. This will distract the Bladedancer and save the lives of your teammates. Sometimes you might be able to run his super out. When running, make sure to stay in the air when he's close and to run away from your teammates. 6. If your in a group of team mates, call out the Bladedancer and tell everyone to aim at him. If more then 2 people are shooting the Bladedancer , he's going to fall quick. 7. If he gets close to your group, SCATTER! This will cause the Bladedancer to cover more ground before killing someone. More ground to cover for the Bladedance = more super energy he has to waste. (Note, tips 5 and 6 are meant for groups you can communicate with. If your in a group where you can't, then look at them when the Bladedancer goes Arc Blade. If they are shooting at him then join in BUT if they aren't, then just scatter) 8. If the Bladedancer uses Razor Edge, then jump. That attack only hits targets on the ground. Not in the air. (Note, you might want to uses your jump ability, sometimes a normal jump is not enough to clear it.) 9. This tip is for Defender Titans. if you use your bubble and you see a Bladedancer coming at you, don't just dance. Be ready to dodge his Razor Edge,. Yes. That move can go through your bubble and kill you. 10. Another for Defender Titans, if you have suppression grenade, use it on him/her. It will cancel out their Arc Blade. 11. Special weapons work really well against them. Make sure to save a few rounds for when one comes at you. 12. If you were able to cause the Bladedance to waste all of his Arc Blade on you, then feel good. You just save your team mates from getting killed and made that Bladedancer waste his Arc Blade on 1 guy. Trust me, using Arc Blade and getting 1 kill is not a good feeling. That's about it for Arc Blade. Theses tips are not 100% guaranteed to make sure you win every fight. They are meant to increase the chances of you winning. Any other tips are small ones like, use your super against him, use heavy ammo and that stuff. Next up, we're going talk about to deal with other ability the Bladedancer has. First up is the Hunters Blink ability (The teleporting jump ability.) This ones kinda of easy to deal with. If a Bladedancer blinks towards you, run the direction he/she came from. Blink teleports you up and forwards. Be quick and the Bladedancer will just loss the ground he/she gained. Biggest thing when facing this ability is not to panic. If your quick you can cause the Bladedance to lose ground OR if you have a shotgun, you can just let him/her Blink into your shotgun. Next is Blink strike. (The melee ability) This ones not a big deal. Just be ready for a Bladedancer to teleport into your face. Have a shotgun ready for when he/she does or try to land the melee hit first. Also, watch out for Bladedancers running shotgun. If he/she is able to land a shotgun hit on you, be ready for him/her to try to hit you with blink strike. Last is the Stalker ability.(Invisibility) It's not the actual invisibility that's the problem, it's the fact that you can't see them on radar. A Bladedancer who knows how to use this will use it to get behind you with out you knowing. This is something you need to watch out for as the Bladedancer has an melee ability that lets him/her one hit kill you from behind. Backstab. Only way to counter this is to check behind you and your blind spots (spots where you can't see the enemy like your sides). The good thing about this ability is you can still see them when they get close. You will see a ghostly out line of them. When you do see them, let them know you do and cause them to start running. And that's about it. Any other tips would be general Crucible tips. Hopefully these tips will help you face Bladedancers in the future. One big tip I can give Is to not get frustrated or mad when one kills you. He could of gotten lucky or he's really good. Just suck it up, learn from your death and get ready for the next fight but most importantly, have fun. If you have any questions about Bladedancer, being how to be good with them or how to kill them, I'll be glad to help. This is Gentlemen, and I'll see you on the battlefield Guardian. Edit: Just got done with my percussion stuff so I decided to check the app to see 120 people has replied. Dang. Thanks for the replies and likes. Edit 2: Added more stuff to the Arc Blade section and edited small stuff.

    • To my defender titan brethern Use armor of light with unstoppable in crucible for your bubble. You're nearly invincible inside of it, including oncoming bladedancers. If one is coming, time your fusion rifle right a they are about to enter. After firing, immediately punch and he should go down, next to no harm to you. While Im at it, try putting your bubble near a capture point of the enemy, not on it. This tempts nearly all players to want to come wreck your shit. Just stay inside and melee everything/heavy machine gun everything and you should come out on top. If a warlock comes by with his void super, back out of the bubble and sometimes it wont smash you. Same for strikers except back out and glide at the same time. Golden guns are a bit more tricky, I usually have a machine gun on sights for when they're about to pop my bubble and attempt to kill him first. Staying mobile insde the bubble helps.

            • All good tips, but an easier an more consistent method of survival is to simply run. If your in range to hear the distinct power surge pop sound it makes, do a 180 and run from red dots on radar. Works 90% of the time.

              • You must first be a bladedancer to beat a bladedancer, when you do face off its an immediate Cape/Shader showdown to the death. Until a titan comes in and hulk smash them into hamburger meat.

                1. If they are running at you or using melee, start shooting while backing up. 2. Use grenades, 9 times out 10 the Hunter will continue in a straight path. 3. Don't waste time reloading (unless you reload quick because of a perk), use a secondary once they get closer. *If you have a sniper, you'll probably die 4. When in doubt, melee before getting killed, the lag will kill them shortly assuming you brought their health down

It's not like their super or any one thing is overpowered by itself. No single component of the Arcblade class should be considered overpowered on its own. But every class should have a healthy balance of niche abilities that are great when executed correctly, along with some staples for their class playstyle and a few healthy fluff ability holders, etc. But at this point, the game pretty much shows favoritism towards certain classes. And Arcblade is certainly one of them. All of those two-in-one abilities are basically what's ruining the idea of balance. Because at this point every class BUT the Titan is a walking one man army. But we're just the "support" class. Unless I run Striker, then I'm basically a Suicide Bomber trying to rush into a room before they realize I'm rushing, which is basically impossible. Because the moment you're a Titan and come within five yards of someone, they're 99.99% certain you've got your Fist of Havoc on the ready, even if you aren't running Striker. But if a GG/Arcblade/Voidwalker/Sunsinger wants to use their Super recklessly, they can afford to. Because it basically turns them into a one-shotting monster for at least one moment of epicness if not for an entire lengthy killstreak depending on the Super. Meanwhile Titans, the ones expected to actually -blam!- shit up, just kind of GET -blam!-ed up trying to Super or simply cannot even kill with their Super because it wasn't designed to. Here are a few things that would've made Titans "support" while also actually effective at being a lone wolf. 1. Make the Bubble Auto-Revive when placed on Dead Ghosts (but don't apply the Medic Shield obviously.) 2. Replace Iron Harvest with a Bubble Upgrade that does either an Area-of-Effect Knockback or DoT. 3. Make Vortex Grenade dramatically slow enemies who pass by and tweak damage frequency to compensate this change. 4. Do anything BUT what you're already doing to make matters worse. I'm certainly not going to gain much support from anyone here, but that's because everyone's fine with keeping everything the way it is now. Keep Titans good for PvE but ignore everything else, keep Huntards OP in Crucible, and maintain the current Warlock supremacy that's been ongoing since launch. Pretty much the only reason why anyone argues otherwise is because they love their Hunter/Warlocks and don't want to see them nerfed into a lackluster stage. Completely reasonable, but that's exactly how the Titans have all felt since launch. Inadequate and better off rolling a Huntard/Warlock even though we'd rather our own favorite class be raised to the same tier as Huntards/Warlocks. There's no worse feeling than watching a Sunsinger Revenge Spawn inside a Ward of Dawn w/ Starless Night Blinding them, only to watch them One-Shot you with wreckless RB spamming. If even my Super isn't enough to save me from theirs, then I guess there's not really anything fair about that matchup. I'm basically only going to win when most of their CD's are off cooldown or, for WHATEVER reason, I've somehow managed to force them into a situation where they're finally at the disadvantage. But when a Titan gets theirs, it doesn't really matter. Dying is still much more likely, because you try to rush forward and cause some damage, only to be punished time and time again. If there is anything the Titan is best at, it's that they're better at dying than everyone else. So let's all pray they don't cheat us out of being an Assaulter class on Destiny 2 by wasting our time with needless 'support utility' options we'll never use (again,) because this game is clearly about fast paced action that doesn't seem to forgive anyone trying to do anything other than kill what's in front of them as quickly as possible. Half the time you end up killing a friendly with your bubble, after all. I'm sure this happens often enough that these stupid shmucks at Bungie could've done something to avoid this altogether. For instance, how about a barrier effect resembling VoG Relic, y'know; where being shielded doesn't mean I can't shoot due to a barrier. Call it OP all you'd like, it's not. It would only look OP when countless scrubs tried to charge the bubbled people with the bubble still up. It only works if the enemy team lets it work. If I had to sum this up, I'd put it a lot like this: It's all a matter of game smarts and how easily a class is "countered," and at this point the Titan is hands down the most easily countered class in the game, with a monstrous gap between them and Warlocks/Hunters who basically outplay Titans 9/10 when their CD's are up. If Titans weren't made to be such clumsy "hit-or-miss" gamblers in their basic playstyle, they'd be much healthier additions to the Crucible and would contend on a level playing field. But as it stands now they're about as useful to the team as Bungie's been to its consumers. @Gentlemen: I understand Arcblade isn't OP in the sense it's unstoppable, but what I'm saying is they lack that chink in their armor, the Achilles Heel of their playstyle. They have an out for everything, an answer to every problem posed to them. Warlocks are just about as blessed, though with some interesting and distinct difference in playstyle. And Titans are basically the retarded cousin who's honestly only trying to help, but obviously lacks the capacity to do anything other than sit there and look appealing while actually being very inadequate at their role in the fireteam... except when the enemy team is about as ignorant to the basics of gameplay as they are. The only one thing I consider OP on the Titan, and again it's more of a gamble hit-or-miss is the Shoulder Charge. You basically pray it pops just in time to One-Shot Lunge someone and not a moment too soon, or that it doesn't run out just as you get to your target. And with only a shitty pair of Exotic Boots to do anything about this, it's honestly very hazardous to try and abuse. Which is what makes it "balanced," I would say, but honestly I despise the ability. There have been too many moments where an enemy is in my sights, almost dead, but then they do a 360 and suddenly Shoulder Charge in my face. It's ridiculous, and probably the only redeeming factor for Titans in Crucible while also the most treacherous ability to try and actively exploit.
