Want to make a 2nd character: Need some advice!

So... I only have one character: A level 31 Hunter. I've done VOG a couple of times, but I haven't done CE at all... I heard that making another character is pretty beneficial. So my question is: What's a good time to make a secondary character? Should I get my hunter to max first? AND WHICH CLASS SHOULD I BE? Thanks!

  • My main is a warlock, and it's a blast. I like everything about it. That being said, you can get furry armor from the vanguard for titan. Everyone likes furry armor.

    • I didn't even get my Hunter to 30 before making my Warlock. Make it when you want it. Your call when that is.

    • Perk to new class? Increase Gilmore score. Helps make it a win win on RNG armor Perk to same class? Use the same playstyle, can transfer older legendary armor to secondary character for major boost after 20 for no additional shards. Either way, something to aid your leveling up. What I do is get a full set of rare engrams. Give them to the new guy and have them decode it. That way at least they have a full set once they hit level 10. Transfer the weapons back to your primary character (armor too if you do same class) and simply equip it when you turn in bounties. It will max that gear out so you at least have a wrecking ball at level 10. Best of luck

if you just play entirely to be casual and kinda screw around for fun, then go ahead and make another class. since you already have a hunter, i would recommend a titan. but i am nothing like the type of person i just described. i play for loot and level. if you're playing for those two things, i would suggest making another two hunters. all i really care about in this game is more chances at the stuff i want, and more chances to do the stuff i like to do like raids and nightfalls etc. The absolute easiest and fastest way to max level and the best gear in the game is to just make 3 of the same class

      • Make one of each so you don't have to choose that's what I do

      • I suggest making all three characters, but not all at once. I made a warlock at first, when she became level 25, I made a hunter. When my warlock was 28 and my hunter 26, I made a Titan. So i suggest a warlock next, I liked having the hunter and warlock as my two for a long time. They both where completely different and fun.

      • Both Titan and Warlock can be barrels of fun. Punchbro and Void ho are carnage on an industrial scale. Punchbro and your preferred shotgun are a blast. And everyone should get to experience the Void ho/Obsidian Mind/Bad Juju orb machine once in ther Destiny life. If you are after efficient economic expansion, create more hunters. If you long to eat stars for breakfast and nightmares for brunch, create a warlock. If you you are troubled by the idea that there are too many Dregs that haven't been punched into there constituent atoms, or long to go at a Fallen Major with nothing but your fists, then create a Titan.

        • I played the beta so I knew what I was starting with but having each class is a huge boost in skill because it shows that you can change your play style at the press of 6 buttons and 5 minutes of loading screens.

            • Honestly it just depends how much you play. I didn't make any my alts until I had at least a few pieces of gear for each.

I had one of each then realized I'll never have enough time to max each one. So I sharded/deleted my other two and now I'm just going to make 3 hunters to get one to max as fast as I can. And when one is maxed I'll prob make a warlock.

            • Can't really go wrong either way. I prefer the titan defender and the titans jump over what the warlock has to offer though. However I'm biased as my titan is my main. If you're at a stand still and have your weekly stuff done on your hunter, that's when you work on your next character, when you're at a standstill on weekly stuff with both of those characters. Make your third

              • If you made a hunter first, definitely have a warlock as your second. Ive only ever used my hunter, finally got it to 32 so now I'm working on a warlock. Honestly, I have no idea why I didn't do this earlier, playing warlock is probably the most fun I've had on this game in a while.

                • I made three of the same class (I'm a hunter) and it makes it so much easier to get loot every week. I highly suggest making another one.

                • I started as a hunter, that's my main. You can't lose all classes are fun. I'd try warlock if you want a totally new experience

                • Depends on how much you play. If you have a lot of free time I would suggest making a Titan. If you are just trying to get an extra shot at nightfall and the raid, but don't have a lot of time make another hunter. You can vault all of your current hunter gear and put it on the other as soon as that one hits lvl 20. Great for maximizing drops over time, but there are drawbacks to doing so.
