So here's a little background on me. I was unjustly fired from my job, a large entertainment marketing company, last June. In 7 months, I haven't been able to find anything, though I got close a few times. It's very frustrating. My passion has always been writing and storytelling and I've written feature scripts for independent films, an award winning short for the Assassin's Creed film contest, and just published my first novel.
Bungie has had a posting on it's website for a while now for a writing position and I definitely fit the required skills, but try as I have, I cannot get their attention. I've applied online, I've sent query letters to their recruiters on LinkedIn, and even snail mailed my resume and writing samples. I figured as a last ditch effort if I could get enough bumps that this topic can trend on the forums and I can get on their radar that way.
So check out some samples of my work and if you'd like to see someone with a passion for storytelling who enjoys playing games get a job with Bungie, then give me a bump. It's a long shot, but what the heck?

Edit 1: A big thank you to everyone who's replied so far. It's very encouraging. This might not lead anywhere, but I had to try.

Edited by StartedFriend42: 1/29/2015 7:05:26 AMNope your writing needs work, prologue needs MAJOR WORK.
-
Maybe you can make a better story

Your a great writer and this fan short for the devils lair strike is very impressive but as good as it is, its painful to see anyone put bandages on a dead horse, you shouldn't waste perfectly good talent on Bungie, at least not while they are tied down to Activision and as great as it would be to see Destiny have a story worth mentioning Im afraid Destiny is plagued with very aggressive cancer and its terminal.

Edited by wizardeiges: 1/29/2015 12:23:14 AMFirst you need to check if you have them "destiny writing" skills. 1. Don't like actually writing story so you make two of the supposed important NPC''s be completely useless. Make them use lines such as I DONT HAVE TIME TO EXPLAIN WHY I DONT HAVE TIME TO EXPLAIN and I COULD TELL YOU OF THE DARKNESS but actually says next to nothing about the actual invisible plot and "story". 2.Scrap 99% of your ideas and script about a month before the game launches. 3.Won't put much effort into writing a story for the game. 4.What little story you write, you feel the need to put just about all of it on collectible trading cards called "gremoire" that contains the "story" but can only be accessed through something existing completely separate from the game that you'll have to leave the game just to read a bunch of shit you feel no need to actually put in the game. 5.Have the desire to butcher the game further by locking off several key levels containing "story" and making them DLC (Disk.Locked.Content) Fit all of the above? then I think they could potentially contact you in the future. Seriously though,I hope you find some work asap. Goodluck, bro.

sure you could write for Bungie, if you don't mind spending 5 years of your life building the plot and lore of a new universe only to have it get gutted like a fish and have all that hard work turn into a worthless hollow husk that is no more significant than an a morning bowel movement, then I say GO FOR IT!

I think you're over qualified. Even if you failed English and Language Arts classes in high school, you'd still be over qualified to work as a writer for Destiny.

Edited by Nobody: 1/28/2015 7:47:51 AMI have over 2000 pages of notes for a science fiction universe I am creating and would love to work for bungie as well but to be honest it will never happen for either of us because it will not happen on our terms. Just write for yourself and people you care about, if it gets you somewhere that should just be a bonus. You have a creative touch and you should have your story told within your own universe.
