"Tell me a story, papa," said the boy.
His father lowered the newspaper. "I have one for you."
The boy leaned in closer as his father whispered, "It's called 'the Legend of Xboxdotcom.'"
The father began the story:
"There once was an Internet forum -- much like other forums -- except this one was devoted to video games. On the forum, all walks of nerd came together to discuss some of the finer points of being a nerd.
"There were also the trolls. A troll, you see, gets a rise out of ruffling others' jimmies. Like how a teen masturbates furiously to get off, the troll will bait the forum users into arguments for the sake of it. During the golden age of trolling, many 'lolz' were had at the expense of the unworthy.
"But over time, the trolls started to become less clever. They lost their edge, so to speak, by attempting to become too edgy. Until finally, there were none left. And the Internet forum was devoid of pranksters.
"A young user who knew the forum's history well aspired to become the type of troll that was missing. His name was Xboxdotcom. But he wasn't sure where to begin, so he sought assistance from a retired troll.
"Xboxdotcom traveled to lands far away in search of the once-famous troll, who had become a recluse. At the troll's sanctuary, Xboxdotcom requested training. And -- much to Xboxdotcom's surprise -- the troll decided to train Xboxdotcom.
"Months passed, and the troll finally decided to test Xboxdotcom.
"'I don't think I'm ready!' Replied Xboxdotcom when the troll said to post a thread.
"'You are,' responded the troll.
"'But I--'
"'Try, Xboxdotcom.'"
The rest is history.
