The Vault of Glass is absolutely one of my favorite things to do, both raids are immensely fun with the right group, but it's painful when you don't get that one weapon/gear drop that you need.
Personally, I've only gotten a single chest armor drop from either raid, the VoG Chest piece on my hunter. I understand that the point in having the new raid gear boosting your light level is designed to make you "buy" more content from Bungie and is all about the bottom line, to be honest, I don't mind it. My concern is that there will be a new raid, with new gear and new weapons that make all of the old ones less useful.
The newest raid, Crota's End, has its own set of unique upgrade materials. That being said, they are obviously only obtainable by doing that raid. It's not confirmed yet as to what the House of Wolves raid will use for upgrade material, but radiant material seems likely. So the only way to upgrade the raid gear for two of the three raids is to have done the newest raids. While the Vault of Glass Raid gear will set in a terminal 30 light per piece and 300 attack cap. Using only ascendant materials that we, at least most of us, have plenty of just stockpiled for nothing really...

Here's my plan:
● While equipped, any raid weapon or armor piece may be rerolled through the speaker/gunsmith respectively using 10 motes of light per piece, upgrading it to the new highest level possible, i.e. 36 light or 331 attack as of now.
• This will reset all nodes in the gear. Similar to how Xur upgrades Exotics.
• Upon completion of this upgrade the final nodes for damage and defense, that used to require ascendant material, will now require radiant material instead.
• This method forces players to use the current standard materials earned through the DLC, hence requiring players to own the DLC in order to do so.
This will effectively allow, not only, a unique environment where players can have a boost to their level with gear that has become somewhat obsolete, but effectively solve the "everyone looks the same" problem. Additionally, when the light level is increased, to say 34, during the House of Wolves DLC, players will have three different sets of Raid gear to hit max level with and be able to use the perks they provide in harder versions of the raids.
Please let me know what you think and if you would be interested in this process.

Go Get new crota primaries, you'll forget all about vog weapons.
-
I don't see why raid gear should be upgraded It's for that intended raid Which has the skills for that raid If you were to bring a full raid set of CE to VoG... It would be pointless they're vex not hive
-
No that would defeat the purpose of new raid gear
-
It's cool and all but it would never happen. If you could just reroll your old vog raid armor to be max level everybody would do it. I for one have never done the crota raid. I can't find people to play and when I do they don't care about being part of a team. If this system I would've just upgraded my armor and been max level ages ago. They don't have this so people continue to play the game.

Signed.

Bump for cool idea.
-
Vog gear looks so much cooler. Vision and fatebringer rule. Signed!
-
Id agree with this but i already dismantled all my vault of glass stuff.
-
I wouldn't mind 33 light. But no to 36 light and the guns could be like the vex and hit 323. But in no way should par with the new raid gear and weapons.
-
I see this post way to much and its time to put an end to it. LEAVE VOG GEAR AT 30. It would make the dlc compeltly useless in my eyes first of all. Why would you buy the dlc when you can get 32 on vog? Also, you said you dont want to stop running vog. WELL DON'T. 3 32's here and i STILL do vog all 3 times every week. If you play this GAME for drops, you should probably quit, because it's a GAME made for FUN. So go do a vog and get some outdated gear, but have some fun in the process.
-
Shut up. Jesus.
-
They should just make vog a lvl 32 and only weapons are 331 gear stays the same
-
We need vanity slots...

Completely agree. However, i think this rule should be added: for example, to upgrade VoG gear to 331, one must have completed CE on Hard a total of 5+ times. Same for when HoW comes out. One must have completed CE on Hard 5+ times.

Let it go, my friend.

Upgrades for everyone lol

Edited by Trando: 1/25/2015 7:02:39 AMI didn't read all the way through, I'm sorry , a bit tired. But I'd go for an updated Found Verdict, it just wasn't cutting it's way through bad guys in IB last time... But as far as I know, there is a second tier of raid gear in game, different names and stats, but referencing the VOG all the same. I found it looking through some items on Planet Destiny, an updated VOG may be on its' way linky, technically not a leak as it's in the game already.

Go get the new gear. FFS.

Translation: I don't want to do Crota, so make VoG gear be able to hit 32 and make Crota irrelavent. I think it's a good idea because I want it to happen.
-
Yeah something like this needs to be implemented. I personally think that the warlock armor for crota's end looks ugly. It'd be awesome if they would allow there to be a level 32 raid for the Vault of Glass. Include it with the DLC for the other raids so that no raid falls too far behind. It makes sense!

I know change is hard, trust me, but u gotta move on.. each dlc and raid is going to make a lot of things outdated, better get used to it now.
