If you look at the Ghost Fragments I forgot which one it is, it's either under the Fallen, or Earth. But I specifically remeber reading one and it was a conversation between a Ghost and a couple Dregs. The Ghost was blackmailing the dregs, saying if they didn't listen then he'd have 10 Titans crashing in their roof. And if you think about it, we basically listen to our ghost like a dispatch. I personally believe we're some type of post apocalypse military police force. Which brings up a couple more theories that I think majorly tie in. Most of civilization was wiped out by something when boarding the ships, we find that out pretty early in the game. Ok well in the Dark Below DLC. The Warmind is told to be capable of such things. And that's why your ghost tells you to go defend it from the Hive. Hint, Hint. I think the speaker/traveller is responsible for powering up the Warmind and nuking humanity, so he could have the ghost revive them and turn them into his own army. I've always thought we were evil ever since I noticed the names of characters in this game. We are "Hunters" Titans" and "Warlocks" Which falls under the evil side of names wouldn't you say? We kill "Knights" "Wizards" & even "Priests" so from the abundance of context clues.. We are pretty damn evil if I do say so myself...

  • If you read a grimoire card Ghost Fragment mysteries, under legends, It's clear the traveler is fighting against the darkness in that card, as far as I can tell. The traveler says he is the last of his kind, designed to better than the rest, but he still can't beat the darkness. Then he thinks of a way he can win. He says he shrugs off his shield and billions fall into the ash. I still don't think the darkness is good though. The hive look evil, seem evil, etc. Odds are, yes the darkness didnt' get us, the traveler probably did because he realized he couldnt win against the darkness otherwise and we were all doomed. The warmind agreed to the plan because as a computer, he is logical and realized that nuking humanity was the only way to "save" it from the darkness. This card could also be from rasputins perspective, but I don't know how he would have fought the darkness or been in the garden. Titanomach, comes from Titanomachy, which is the war of the gods, where a old god and new god fight. That makes me think traveller more than Rasputin. Only thing that really screams Rasputin is saying he had brothers and sisters, which could easily be the other warminds.

  • The Grimoire cards were written once a new story was created after Bungie's lead creative writer (the one who made the HALO franchise games, quit). So the cards reflect the new, crappy, insubstantial story. The one where the traveler IS supposed to be good, and there's no twist about how it's all a lie as it was originally. No joining Crow and the exo stranger in their quest to stop the traveler, no questioning the morality of your choices or "good and evil," just more crappy defending dinklebot and killing random aliens for reasons we never learn.

  • Any idea where this story about the dark traveller comes from? I've heard several people mention it, but I've never seen any official story that, that was ever even part of the story. Just curious if there is an official Bungie source who has said that was originally a thing, or if it's just fan fiction that has been passed off as fact at this point.

  • It was a post by a beta tester where the game still had this story. He said that he believed that the non-disclosure agreement is null and void after a game launches so he was safe to tell the original story. Bungie took down his posts as soon as they found out, while leaving several other theories with less convincing evidence untouched. This was the stupidest thing they could have done, because it basically confirmed it was the truth and they were trying to cover it up. Why else would they delete it but leave similar posts up but for the fact that his was true and the other's were false? It's only remained in screenshots and such from people who viewed the original post. Here is a screenshot of the original post http://s24.postimg.org/eqzaiykes/Screenshot_2014_09_27_13_02_07.jpg
