I think it's unlikely that Kabr could have turned into Atheon but I do think that it is possible that Atheon and the Vex inside of the Vault of Glass have a common goal with the guardians that conducted raids on it. Bungie said before the Dark Below released that the Vex Mythoclast was designed to be one of if not the best weapon for Crota's End. There was also a grimoire card that said that only a weapon of incredible light could defeat the hive (the mythoclast). I believe that the Vex, being able to travel through time, fell to Crota and his army of darkness along with the rest of the Solar System and have now come back in time and created the Vault of Glass as a testing ground to ensure that only the strongest of guardians are able to wield the weapon that would make it possible to defeat Crota before he and the Hive take over the Solar System. There is also a grimoire card that says that the Vex created the mythoclast but are not able to use its power effectively, explaining why they have to find guardians powerful enough to properly use it to stop Crota from wiping out guardians and the Vex alike.

Destroy rogue vex. Think about it. In the undying mind we are fighting a rogue vex that has come back right? So it stands to say that we could be doing that. Ive always since the first time i played believed the speaker is involved in this. Also isnt he the only one in the tower wearing a mask? The traveler created small ghosts that go out and revive us. How? We dont know. Maybe they go back a moment before our death and are able to teleport us forward and that is the revive. Now if the vex and VOG are a set up to prepare us for the hive. Then it stands to reason we are far from done with them. I doubt crota would be what destroyed the Vex. Because if your theory holds true. Then it is not crota they are preparing us for. But Oryx. Crota was the littlest kid of oryx. The lore video that is all over now. States he was the weakest of oryx kids. So it is very possible. Comet is the coming or Oryx.

The Vex Mythoclast grimoire also states that "it is mysteriously fit for human hands", which supports the idea tbh...

If the vex made the mythoclast that was pretty much meant to be used by guardians then does that mean they were expecting us? If they design the vex to be used by powerful guardians then are they the ones who are good? In the strike mission "Winter's kell" the vex went in there, but why? To stop them cause they knew what will happen? Also in the black garden grimoire card a guardian had a vision that he entered the black garden. He saw a flower in the shape of a ghost and it told him "You are a dead thing made by dead power in the shape of the dead. All you do is kill. You don't not belong here. This is a place of life." He felt doubt. So maybe we were wrong to break into the vault and raid them. If you think about what the ghost in the garden said, he's right. The first thing we did when we came back to life was kill the fallen and in the winters kill strike we saw the vex and just ruined their plans and killed them all. Same for the shrine of oryx mission, the fallen were killing the hive but why? All we ever do is shot first, ask questions later. So maybe the "darkness" is still trying to stop the traveler. There's rumors saying that the story of destiny was that the traveler was evil before release. Maybe bungie still sticking to the storyline, just a little different. So if the vex did design the vex mythoclast to help destroy crota, maybe they aren't the bad guys. What if we are?

No, just because they made a weapon for us doesn't make them "good" ever heard the saying "The enemy of my enemy is my friend"? According to this theory, they don't [i]want[/i] to help us, but they need to in order to ensure their own survival.

Edited by danicusbra: 1/24/2015 5:08:06 AMThis. ever since I heard the voice of the speaker I felt like he was lying to me and avoiding having to tell me what really happened.i feel like maybe he is a tainted gaurdian or perhaps someone like dredgen yor that was consumed by the dark, either way the speaker is shady and kind of freaks me out aince he sells clothes and bonds he mustve scavenged from dead corpses...the only thing that stops me from thinking that the traveler is evil are the ghosts; they're too helpful. unless they don't actually come from the traveler but instead the vex..If the traveler is indeed an evil being then all I can say is that the traveler must be farming us for light. Why else would it have brought us back from the dead AND give us powers that grow and grow. It can go so many ways. These threads and replies are why I love the gaming community Edit*** Also want to throw in the fact the vex definitely lured us to the vault of glass. Be that by the disembodied will of Kabr or the vex mind itself. We have proof of this from the cut scene in which the stranger explains the vex brought them there as she proceeds to crush the light of a vex beneath her foot.

Depends on the context of how Bungie put it, but perhaps what they meant when they said the VM is the best choice for CE was just that it was simply the most powerful gun at the time. Not because of some story behind it, but just because it was the only OP gun released at the time.
