Also..maybe not so much a "kick" option as a "break-away" one instead. If a majority wants to split the game into their own fireteam (and the inactive the same), nobody loses game progress, you dont waste time with loading screens, and you open slots on your team for new people to join-in-progress and help out.

A "break-away" option would nicely solve the AFK issue without having to boot anyone back to orbit. There might be technical issues, but I see people blink out of existence all the time while leaving the public areas on strikes, so it's probably doable. There would still be the potential for abuse, if pairs decided to dick around and toss the third guy to his own instance right before a boss. So there would need to be some sort of point of no return. However, you're unlikely to participate right up until the boss and then go AFK. Excellent idea.

  • @Buggy226- I disagree. Whats going to stop people from going AFK as soon as they hit darkness zone once they figure it out? I knew someone who told me that he'd hide in a corner and youtube on his phone until its done. (I deleted him) Some people are just lazy and will ensure their laziness. I think you should be able to break away at ANY point in the strike because what if you have someone who "doesnt feel" like dealing with the boss himself? What if TWO of your teammates go AFK during a bossfight? It would allow you to split and add people to your fireteam that could actually help. (Speaking for people who just can't manage to kill bosses on their own.) Its not like anyone WANTS to kill a boss on their own, but it's not like they have a choice because their team just became a bunch of benchwarmers. In this scenerio, they have a chance at completing the strike. This "breakaway" feature, however, can still be flawed. Whats going to stop 3 people from getting to a boss down to the last hit, splitting up, and inviting 6 people in for free strike rewards? They could always reset the boss health to fix that, but... The idea here is that even though people want the AFK conflict solved, for Bungie to actually implement it into the bug, they need to work around those exploits, because like I mention before, some people are just lazy and will ensure their laziness.

  • That last paragraph was exactly what I was gonna say. Another issue with voting a kick or "break away" is just trolls. What's gonna stop two guys who are friends kick out the random near the end of the strike or at any given point in the strike? I know it sucks to have to work around a bad actor but they do happen and I can't think of a way to work around that to make it both simplistic and fair.

  • But it shouldn't be allowed to be activated in a darkness zone. In other words, you could split games before or after a boss fight, but not in the middle of the fight.

  • You are a gentleman and a scholar, also capable of thinking outside the rage filled box. I commend thee for trying to make the game a better place.
