The GTA series, the Elder Scrolls series, Shadow of the Colossus, Persona 3 & 4, Portal, the Mass Effect series, the Half Life series The Last of Us, Mario Kart, Super Smash Bros, and these are just some of the more modern examples. Ask any gamer with more experience than myself and they'll tell you Super Mario or The Legend Of Zelda. Destiny is addicting but that's basically the only reason I come back to play it. Any of the games I mentioned could be replayed over and over because they offer amazing stories to immerse yourself in, interesting challenges to conquer in your own way, tough choices with numerous outcomes, and incredible worlds to explore. The best games of all time make you want to play them again to be able to enjoy the experience one more time. Destiny forces you to play through its lackluster story three times in order for you to be able to do the same missions over and over again more efficiently. Part of Destiny's main problem is that it wants you to do everything at the same pace as everyone else. Weekly caps on marks and raids, and daily caps on bounties mean that you have to do everything at the predetermined pace Bungie has set. The games I mentioned never force this ridiculous longevity plan on you. They set you down in a world with a story and say "play". Games are not meant to be a chore with a weekly or daily quota that has no room for overtime, games are meant to allow you to play how you want for as long as you want. Character attachment is also a major part of these games. The ending of both Persona games absolutely killed me because I knew that I would never encounter better characters in a game. But then I met Garrus in Mass Effect 2 and I knew I had found an equally amazing character. Then I created my own character in Skyrim and he became somewhat of an extension of myself. Even though my Skyrim character was mute, he still made decisions and dealt with the consequences, something you never have to do in Destiny. Without a story and a world that change around you, creating a character will never matter. Bungie also passed up an amazing chance to make your Ghost the Claptrap or Glados of Destiny, instead it uses dull one liners on the rare occasion that it actually speaks. These are just some of my arguments, and you can agree or disagree. I'll still play Destiny, but in no way does it even come close to being the greatest game ever for me.

Edited by Tenacious_B: 10/18/2015 10:50:37 PMNO GAME has been played by me longer than Destiny other than rock band in my 30 years. I have never met so many people in another game like I have Destiny and that beats any story driven single player game. The game itself is great and could always be better but its who the game brings to you that makes it and therefore Deserves the title of greatest game of all time. I have played Destiny almost every single day since beta / launch and have never gotten bored. I play great games like shadow of mordor and even the witcher 3, and all I want to do is go back to playing Destiny, just to hang out w people.

Lol in no way is it great. It's a a game to play till others come out.
-
It's up there for me, honestly, mainly cause i see great potential in it when it takes the jump to next gen exclusivity

I'll be that guy... Look I've played a lot of games across all consoles, In my opinion I think destiny has a lot of potential to BECOME the best game ever, I voted for yes because I think destiny right now is the best out right now, the RNG systems , even though it's so cruel to us, is a great rush. Yes grinding can be tedious , but that's why you have crucible and bounties to relieve much related stress ( or cause some more stress depending on the team). My favorite part of the game is the PvE and PvP relationship , the fact you have to play long and hard for a decent weapon and gear is what makes me come back and keep doing raids, nightfalls, strikes, etc. It's been said many times before "Destiny is the worst game I've ever loved" a very relevant quote if you ever played Diablo, runescape, World of Warcraft, and any game you just lose track of time in, I think you truly love destiny like I do. Bungie fo sho needs to update and fix a ton of things but for now, Keep up the good work destiny.

It like so many games was over hyped and was not what people thought it was going to be. That is not to say it wasn't fun while it lasted.

Assassin's Creed for lyfe!

We all no it's pokemon snap
-
The fact that the zelda series exists makes it impossible for destiny to be the best game ever

Satire? Still giving my opinion about it! Destiny is a good game without a doubt. Good story that gets really interesting when you read the Grimoire. The PvP could use tweaks but it's still fun. The Tower is boring! It has what we need, but not what we want. Add some more things to do! Why not have an area where we could gamble glimmer, shards, motes, etc. It's not the best game ever. It's not the best game of 2014. I think Advanced Warfare is a better game than it, but I think Destiny is better than Pre-Sequel.
-
Its the worst game I've ever loved
-
Heeeellllll nnnoooo
-
It's the best game of 2024
-
Sheep's Head. Chess. Super Metroid.

-
How the hell is this poll even close? I can't believe there are that many people that think Destiny is the greatest. They clearly haven't played very many other games
-
i played star wars galaxies a lot more than destiny, but i wouldn't call either of them the best game ever.
