Why is it that hunters have more skill than warlocks?

I posted this as a reply so someone's comment about hunters requiring more skill to use, I thought that it'd be interesting to see how such an accusation is defended. Post: I've played both hunter and warlock, seen what they both have to offer and I just don't see how hunters can see themselves as superior in any way. Hunters are designed to be killing machines, titans are designed to take as many bullets as they can and warlocks are designed to support both classes to the best of their ability. What I'm saying is that people rag on warlocks because they're infamous for pushing atheon off countless times, yet all classes have the ability to do something that is regarded as "cheesing" that I see as unfair. In relation to hunters requiring the most skill, I disagree entirely. The golden gun doesn't require any skill to use, other than being able to aim and shoot (while nova bombs require the user to judge the trajectory to land the bomb perfectly, not too much skill required, but more so than that of a golden hand cannon). The blade dancer also requires minimal skill, all that you need to do is press the light attack buttons and the game targets enemies for you, so all you need to know is where the light attack button is (not that difficult). The hunter jump is a highly generic double jump seen in almost every game under the sun, no skill required provided you've played a video game that incorporates such a universal jumping mechanic before. While the warlocks glide isn't seen much, and if mastered provides the best forward momentum in the game. However since it is rarely seen and not many people have the time or patience to master it, it is regarded as useless. So tell me again, why is it that hunters have more "skill" than warlocks? Now I don't advocate class wars, but this idea that hunters require more skill to use bugged me, I value all classes equally and recognise their roles in good light, so please don't reply with anything provocative :)

  • I'm only replying because I saw the post you were talking about before. That post stuck with me ever since I saw it. Now I've been a hunter almost the whole time with a little warlock and titan sprinkled through it. Ignore the fact that I have 3 hunters, that's just me fighting RNGesus. The way I see it is sun singers aren't so much the best class as they are Over Powered. I know that's a term thrown around a lot but in my opinion that's how I feel. First thing: every class is hard to kill while using their super except for gunslingers. Dem fools be brittle. Not to mention if an either subclass hunter activates their super they lose it. If a titan is killed mid FOH animation they get it back and most sun singers only activate it after they die.(please explain this to me about the two subclasses I didn't mention) As for how supers are used. You say warlocks have to account for trajectory blah blah. I've seen quite a bit of nova bomb gameplay and killed by it quite a bit. It seems like its just another panic super much like the FOH, only used to get out of a sticky situation. Hunters can't do that, we have an animation that locks us in place for a few seconds normally getting us killed. If we do get our supers off, it is definitely harder to use golden than other supers. We actually have to aim, whereas the Warlocks just have to point in the general direction and splash damage will kill everyone. Melees: Warlocks have a strong, mid range melee that can give an over shield, it also tends to OHKO most people. Hunters have the throwing knife which doesn't OHKO even when its a crit. Blink strike just makes you invisible and no one gets fooled by that weak cloak. Grenades: simple, warlocks have the best grenades and a super that allows them to spam said grenades. Only good thing hunters have is the trip mine. And finally jumps: I say hunters have the best for their class. Could you imagine an activated golden gun or arc blade slowly rising with the other jumps? Not good for us. I think the other two classes should switch jumps. Warlocks need to fly higher with the titan jump so they can nova bomb better. While titans could better FOH with the warlock jump.

  • Warlocks have more tricks up their sleeves like overshields and awesome grenades. The only reason people say hunters are OP in crucible is their supers. Ignoring that,(which only really gets an extra 1 or 2 kills each super) and looking at grenades and melees, they are easily the worst of the 3 classes, which is part of why people say hunters are terrible in pve. If you can play well as a hunter with a throwing knife and trip mine, it makes playing other classes easy.

  • My honest opinion of each. Brief Bd: easy super. Invisibility spam. Blink Gs: easy super. Tripmine spam S: easy panic super. Nade spam. Shoulder charge D: support class. Anti super Ss: support class. Flame shield. Nade spam Vw: easy panic super. Axion bolt spam. Blink Some classes help the team more than others. Other classes are selfish and net you more kills.

    • I don't really see the big difference between classes, except for the supers, which some of them are useful in some very specific parts of the game. You want to cheese X part of the game, use X class, that's it. Otherwise, in the game as a whole, player actual FPS skills are more important than the class you choose.

    • Becuz the hunter requires skill, if you have the skill to play as Hunter, exclude arc blade users, the you will usually wreck in PvP
