Honestly I think you put too much stock in how people get their items, which in a game like Destiny can be trouble. I can grind the whole game and never die and not get something, or I can get lucky and have it drop off a level 12 Dreg. Granted you can only get that emblem from the raid, but who cares? They could have gotten it from the first chest. Does it matter if they cheesed the rest of the raid then? All they did was open a box.
Stop caring how people get their gear. It doesn't really affect you in any way.

You only get the emblem from crota. It was supposed to be for bragging rights, and to be able to tell an experiences crota raider or an inexperience one. Now when hardmode is released or they patch the cheese you won't have a clue who knows how to do the raid

Having an emblem, even without a cheese, wouldn't tell you jack about that person. Anyone can be carried, anyone can carry. I've seen people from VoG who had just about everything, and where utterly useless in the raid. I've seen people who had nothing I could see (But a small mountain of ascendant Mats) and rocked Atheon's face. It comes down to the player and not what they have. What they have can be useful, but it's up to the player to make it so.

I don't care if you got carried, I would like to know if you know the mechanics. Cheesing avoids the mechanics in the game. I dont want people with that emblem joining my game and asking how we take down crota. Similar to what happened with atheon and the vex mytho. Having completed it legit means that I dont have to explain to you the mechanics when it gets patched

Edited by StorableComa: 12/22/2014 7:57:26 PMMost people who get carried don't learn mechanics. They get a free ride. This is why you can't use items in game as a testament to skill. Anyone can get them so long as they complete the activity they are awarded for. You could get Vex just by doing Atheon CP, you didn't have to know how to do gatekeepers, templar or oracles. So having an emblem just means they beat Crota. Doesn't mean they did it the best way, were even there while it happened, or learned anything. For all you know they were told to "Stand there and shoot his shield" and they got it. Is that the mastery of mechanics you are looking for?

It's not perfect, but its better than what we have. If someone has the flawless raider trophy on the vog, I certainly want them on the team
