Why I care about cheating in Crota raid
Those of us who did it legit spent 7-10 hours on the raid the first time. We learned to communicate, practiced our timing and finally after hours of frustration took down Crota.
The reason people are frustrated against those that CHEAT not cheese is because they didn't have to put in the work in order to get the gear. They just cheat the game and get the same loot as those that put in the time. To top it off we then have to hear people come up with lame excuses on why cheating is OK.
That is why I care what other people do, because the time I put in should be worth something otherwise it cheapens the entire experience. I partially blame Bungie for letting it happen but mostly I am disappointed in the players.
Edit - I wish there was meta data attached to posts like age, income, gender, etc. It would be interesting to see how responses correlate.
Edit 2 - For those saying get a life, why do you care, why so serious. I say it is possible to care about something and not spend every waking moment thinking about it. It's not like I go to bed worrying about what other people do. It's just an interesting discussion topic with a wide variety of opinions. Using critical thinking and having a discussion on a topic that at the end of day doesn't really matter is about the same as watching videos of cats on reddit..... lol. Lots of way to waste time at work....
Edit 3 - Obviously this just a video game so exploiting isn't lawfully wrong. Morality is another issue. Of course it is also a matter of severity and damage caused. Again this is a video game so in many eyes there is a who cares attitude. I just choose to draw my line differently than other people. That wasn't my original argument but I feel like the journey should be worth something and want other people to have my same view. That is wrong and I shouldn't force my views on other people and really how can you do that on a forum but I would be willing to bet that most people are on forums to feel validated and have our beliefs confirmed. Obviously that blew up in my face. haha.

You mean like getting a Legendary engram and it turning into ascendant materal or a piece of equipment you already own. You mean like completing Crotas end and ONLY getting the Unviersal Remote. You mean like doing the Nightfall and only getting 5 strange coins when the Heroic Strike on the same slightly lower difficulty is 9. You mean like playing the Crucible and getting less reputation then doing a couple of patrol missions in a fraction of the time. Clearly these are all instances in which the time and skill put in equally rewarded the player. It isn't because this is how the game was designed. As much as I would enjoy playing hard in the Crucible to get a reward equateable to my performance, it isn't going to happen. As much as I would enjoy getting rewarded for completing the raid based on how many kills, assist, orbs I drop, revives, or less deaths that I have, it isn't going to happen. As much as I would like to complete a nightfall and get rewarded fairley for the the effort and time I put in, its not going to happen. This is the way the game is designed, people circumventing around it are only trying to be as efficient as possible. People may cheese certain sections of Crota's End now, but all that means is Bungie making the Raid harder for everyone.

3 RepliesIt's really starting to get on my nerves that all these ass hats are cheesing and getting end of game swag, when I worked so super hard for mine... I'm special with my bone coated weapons and green emblem... And it's not fair that you all have the same gear as me. Sooo, please, for the love of God, DO NOT: 1) leave the raid at the Crota checkpoint and head to orbit. 2) have someone from the fire team leave the party (in orbit) and then head back to raid. 3) that said fire team member (who is now the host) invites everyone back into the raid. 4) once everyone spawns, revive the glowing blue balls and activate the raid by touching the weird acorn thing. 5) while facing Crota, head left and pick off the Knights in the tower. 6) meanwhile, the host fire team member stays by the acorn. 7) the other 5 guys unload on poor Crota and drop his shield so he takes a knee 8) as he's dropping to his knee, someone yells NOW and the host quits the game (quits as in, actually quits, not just leaves the raid) 9) Crota stays down on a knee like a little b, and the remaining 5 players have an interesting discussion about bio-illumination while waiting for the 6th members game to load back up. 10) 6th member joins 11) kill the swordbearer 12) the level 31 guy picks up the sword 13) level 31 guy beats on Crota for about 30 seconds 14) Crota dies 15) dance party

There's no moral argument involved in this. The argument is as simple as this- I've paid my money, I'll do what I want.

I don't mind cheesing. I don't technically mind cheating. I personally though won't cheese anything I haven't done legit. First Crota raid took us 3.5 hours because we waited til others did it and had an idea what to expect. After that, I don't care anymore.

1 ReplyPlay the lottery and win over a million dollars, easy way out in life (cheese crota) or work endless hours at your job, save money, go through the life struggles, debt, probably go to college to get a better job, probably never even have more than 100k save up in your lifetime, etc. I want to experience the hardship of life( not cheese, die continuously, learn from experience but didnt get it or took 50 attempts) i do agree however cheesers are screwed on hard unless they get help.

I get where you are coming from but honestly I do not blame the people who need to cheese or choose to cheese, progress in this game is extremely linear and you need certain things to compete and progress. It took me about 8 hours to finish the raid first time legit I blame nobody but me and my team for going into it blindly, we could have easily taken a few days to level up, and waited for a guide to make our first crota completion easier but we wanted the challenge. After doing it legit I did it legit a few more times but when people want to cheese I really dont care I can complete it either way.

Well...you should've waited to attempt the raid until a few days after it came out that way it wouldn't have take as long. Now, if you wanted to experience it the first day or if you wanted to go into it blind for the experience....then you got what you wanted out of it. The thrill. The achievement of saying it you did it legit and blind. The others didn't get that.

For the players that care how other players mind works and use their tactics, should go play games like Age of Wushu where not only things like "cheesing" will bother you, but full on cheating. You'll have events like a new players matching months of your hard work in game with a few simple dollars. Other games have it worse where communities have to deal with hackers, botters, and all kinds of exploiters to such a magnitude where it really affects more than your opinion. Things like that in other games destroy in-game economies and eventually population. Meanwhile, all some of Destiny players have to worry about is how the next player is making it to their next destination.. that doesn't affect them at all aside from personal jealousy. I think some of these players should take a step back and look at the bigger picture.. be grateful Destiny isn't bad as most games out there and your personal experience isn't being ruined out of your control.

You are the only one that can affect your mood. You allow the actions of others to cheapen the experience for you. It is not their fault. It is yours. They paid the same amount of money to play this game as you. They can play it any way they want as long as it doesn't break the EULA or TOS. And I doubt this crota cheese does. It's bad programming, and that's it. Mind your own business. And for the record I beat it legit several times the first week. I've now cheesed it a bunch because it's fun and saves time IMHO. I used to have your outlook at the start of destiny, I never went to the loot cave thinking I was better than everyone else and would do it "legit". Now I realize I missed out on a piece of gaming pop culture, something even bungie recognizes and pokes fun at themselves. So, get over yourself and stfu about things that don't concern you.

Its good that they cheat in the long run. Why? Because all the cheats/exploits will eventually get fixed, before hard mode drops hopefully. This will limit the amount of people with hard mode only gear and provide a better raid experience for everyone. I've only found 1 group out of many who would not cheese any part of the raid even when someone requested cheesing crota when we couldn't get it done.

I've spent hours the first time doing it legit. Lol it took us about 8 to 9 hours on the bridge alone, spread across three evenings, because of different fireteam members (people give up way too quickly imo). However, I have nothing against cheesing. I do it myself now if everybody is okay with it. But what I DO mind about cheesing, is the people who only want to cheese and aren't willing to learn or do it the legit way With the cheesing, people are very inexperienced (and/or unskilled). Which isn't necessarily a problem, but they also became lazy and impatient. Really, if you want to cheese, at least learn the legit way beforehand or in between. Because when it gets fixed, we're gonna be stuck with impatient rage-quitters.

I cheesed it. Not Crota himself, but I've done the abyss solo, and the bridge solo. Why did I? It was kind of fun figuring it out, not that watching a few videos and trying it was extremely hard. But more over, the general frustration of coming to the groups to find a group only to see crap like 'Level 30 <insert class here> looking for 5 31+ *only* to do Crota, must BE EXPERIENCED' within the first 3 flippin days of dark below being out. I could run my own group, but with the holidays here, I just don't have time. I would have loved to have been up in the wee hours in the first groups trying the raid? Heck yeah. Just not feasible for me. That said, I am planning on doing the raid once the holidays are past. But yeah, you want to blame someone, blame Bungie. Play test your sh!t. These people that are finding the easy ways through, give them a flippin job. SC Furball and his room mate need to be put on the pay role. Great ideas, relatively mediocre execution on Bungies part.

Im sorry but that is not a good enough reason to care about how someone else plays a game they bought. Are you serious right now? People like you cause conflict everyday and it's sickening. I dont see the people cheating the game shoving their opinions down our peoples throats. No one should care, do you not have enough to do with your life other than bother people about cheating. You did the raid legit, ok so -blam!-ing what? Your no better than anyone else. People cheat and cheese at LIFE, doing it in a game is no different. Just get over it already.

First time playing the first week it took us I believe 5-6 hours. Though some people in our group were crazy frustrated, a majority of us loved how crazy it was. We than beat it another two/three times the first week of DLC. Than we saw all the videos of the "cheesing". We decided to do the exploits from now until it's fixed, or until Hard Raid. Which ever comes first. This being because there is no point (in our minds) to exploit the hard raid if the exploits are still there when we are going to have to eventually figure the legit way out anyway. Basically, We run it the right way to figure it out. We run it again and again until our strategy is solid and we can do it. Than if the exploits are still there we use them to save time and breeze through it. I don't care if people cheat right off the bat...Because they won't be able to complete it once it's fixed. And they won't be able to touch the hard raid even though they may be level 32, because they don't have the communication, skill, or patience. All they are used to is flying through with no issue. So I can't wait till its patched, but until than, Parmesan away people!

The only complaint I have is that when they do fix this issue, there will be a massive influx of players at 32 who have no idea how to do it legit. When hard mode comes out, good luck finding a decent team
