You guys and gals know what I'm talking about? When you load up the VOG and see a group full of 30s and 31s. You go to inspect their armor, and most of it is Vanguard Light 33.
"Have you done/beaten the hard raid before?"
"Yeah all the time!"
*[b]15 minutes later[/b]*
"How do we kill the Templar?"
"What's a gorgon?"
"What side is Venus?"
"There's a Conflux at Gatekeeper?!"
"Wait, those Harpies explode?"
"Why am I detained?!"
And my favorite: "There's no revives on hard?"
People. Please be honest. Personally, I [i]love[/i] explaining the mechanics of the VOG to new people. I love helping VOG virgins through it for the first time. It's awesome.
But please don't lie about it. If you say you know what you're doing, we won't explain it because we assume you've done it.
Now, what happens if you say you've never done it and get kicked from a group? Well that's a good thing. Because those people have no tolerance and patience (and time). You don't want to raid with people like that. You want a group that is forgiving, loose, chill, and can help others.
I love helping people. But please, don't lie. It makes it easier on everybody.

5 RepliesHi Classy Snowman,seeing as you like helping VOG "virgins" out,any chance of adding me and sending me an invite to do it as tbo that's the hardest part(apart from the raid itself) is actually getting the chance to even do it as no one will invite you into the fire team to even get the experience....and yes my gear is vanguard as it's the only way to get the levels without the VOG...catch 22 really all round :/ I'm a daily player Warlock lvl 30,Hunter lvl 29 and Titan lvl 28 (UK time)

I even told them that I had never done it, and still haven't, and all I was met with was yelling and being told how stupid I am for not doing it yet and for not having ice breaker. I immediately left and we back to doing my strikes. I have been through VoG ONCE on Normal and with someone guiding me, so I still feel like I don't know the full mechanics as I was just trying not to be a burden to all the others.

Pre-DLC, I did Hard Mode once. My clan was smaller and it was more difficult finding a decent group, however. I've done normal and partial hard runs plenty to understand the mechanics. This last sunday, my clan decided we should get a third hard mode run in for another chance at the Vex or anything else they want. Only needed one random. First guy to message me says, "Level 31. Very experienced. Not here to screw around. I want to get this shit done." I'm all, sure, why not, I'll bite! First thing out of his mouth, "Why are you guys going down there to protect the confluxes? You can do that from the up top!" Second thing, "You know, if some one dies, all they have to do is leave and they'll be back." To top that off, he was the first to die, no more than 1 minute into the phase, every single time! This new vendor gear is definitely making players feel they can do anything now. I have no problem teaching players, but don't BS the other people in the fireteam.

1 ReplyI played with Europeans who 'beat it all the time.' Sadly, I didn't know they we're talking about their johnsons. They couldn't even shoot the Oracles when I was running relic on the Templar AND they were up top. smh.

I love bringing vault noobs through the raid, its fun. Cant wait for the new christmas batch. Gives me an extra thing to do on this game.

I have honestly never gotten atheons epilogue out of probably 20-30 atheon kills. I did manage to get the vex and the timepiece though!

Im with you on this... Ask people do you know how to use the relec, at least I get a few sortof's and No's. Well its a good thing I did it already, cause ur going to learn today... 2-3 hours later playing hot potato relic games. Now go teach someone else to help you fin the raid please!!! Im done dying for the night!!! PvE k/d = negitive 1 billion. Yay!!!! Need Help and just starting... I eRACERed U - xbox 1... I Got a small group of guys who like helping or being helped with/or by people most days. Raiders of our Destiny (RXD). Doing Nightfall and weekly runs today.

2 RepliesDitto. I joined a group with my 29 hunter on NORMAL, at gatekeepers and atheon. The host was 27 and the rest were 30 and 31. I had to take relic every time. Usually they didn't open the portals and couldn't shoot oracles fast enough. They kept asking stupid ass questions, after they said they had experience. I stayed patient and help them through it.

2 RepliesEdited by Disco: 12/22/2014 3:15:47 PMA lot of people at the end of the day just want to sample "The End Game" and some feel nervous having another 5 people depend on them, so maybe they have ran the Vault a handful of times, I would say once you have ran it at least 10 times you get the hang of it it’s not exactly complicated stuff. But they obviously have some of the basics and probably took 20mins to find your group and fear being booted and just want another carry. Avoiding the relic etc though will never make you any better at it – that’s why for a few runs force (used loosely) a new person to have a go with it and no pressure, once they done it one run they’ll forever know how to run the relic it as like I say its not actually complicated, makes me laugh when people say they are brilliant with the relic…..the equivalent of saying you great at walking......*rolls eyes*

3 RepliesI have been trying to do the vog hard but the people I do it with doesnt even know mars or venus, doesnt even know how to use weapons of light properly or sometimes the relic holder tells us to go to the middle the he shoots his super at atheon letting us get hit by atheon's gun(idk what its called) So hard to find good raid people.

I fully agree - dont lie - it gets VERY obvious if you lie about doing a raid before - Me for example - havent done VoG on hard yet because I could never get all my gear to get to 30 - now Ill go for it - but ill make sure to let them know I actually just did Crota raid last night for the first time - let them know up front - They all took it in stride because I told them [u][b]before we started the raid[/b] [/u] - And I now have 5 new friends who I will be raiding again with tonight because we all had so much fun To all those who havent done raids - we have all been there - just let people know - it might take an extra minute or 2 to find a group on destinylfg.com - but its worth it in the end
