You guys and gals know what I'm talking about? When you load up the VOG and see a group full of 30s and 31s. You go to inspect their armor, and most of it is Vanguard Light 33.
"Have you done/beaten the hard raid before?"
"Yeah all the time!"
*[b]15 minutes later[/b]*
"How do we kill the Templar?"
"What's a gorgon?"
"What side is Venus?"
"There's a Conflux at Gatekeeper?!"
"Wait, those Harpies explode?"
"Why am I detained?!"
And my favorite: "There's no revives on hard?"
People. Please be honest. Personally, I [i]love[/i] explaining the mechanics of the VOG to new people. I love helping VOG virgins through it for the first time. It's awesome.
But please don't lie about it. If you say you know what you're doing, we won't explain it because we assume you've done it.
Now, what happens if you say you've never done it and get kicked from a group? Well that's a good thing. Because those people have no tolerance and patience (and time). You don't want to raid with people like that. You want a group that is forgiving, loose, chill, and can help others.
I love helping people. But please, don't lie. It makes it easier on everybody.

2 RepliesI've always been honest about my raid experience and I've found that by doing that people are more than likely to help me out and bring me along for the raids. Some new raider tips: 1. Tell the Fireteam your experience or lack thereof of the raid you want to run. 2. Ask questions. People are more likely to be understanding of you dying during the raid and they won't dog you as much knowing that it's your first or second time through. 3. Don't underestimate the community. Most people are willing to help others out! Don't be shy, you'll ruin the best part of this game for yourself by not making new friends. I've helped numerous people out with raids, if only to let them experience how fun they are. Some of the people I've helped out have become friends of mine and have become better raiders than myself! Just know that people won't forget your kindness. It's all about networking ;)

Personally i hate when there's noobs that think there so cool at lvl 30 when they haven't beaten hard raid(pre dlc) and then they have to basically relearn a lot of stuff like how not to be carried and what to do to carry their own weight...how are they 30 you ask? Exotic helm...nuff said. And that's why i run with my friends most of the time, i understand in crotas rear end raid if your confused the first few times you run it...it only came out a few weeks ago, but I'm one of the guys that have done hard mode with a group of 3 29s and 3 30s just so i could get a raid helm because my rng with raid gloves suck.

I have full tower gear... I switched from VoG to tower since it had more defense. My female titan also has the Titan mark from the raid. I don't know why people say they won't accept people even into a normal VoG run if you have tower gear. Why do I have to have obsolete Vog armor to run it when there is perfectly better armor

6 RepliesNot to sound braindead or anything. But I find calling them mars/venus works alot better than red/green, or left/right. Because if theres only 1 player alive outside whos never done it before. They could quite possibly be looking a different direction and assume there on the correct portal. Mars/Venus is always what I roll with in groups. Much simpler. But to each there own. Use Whatever works for you. :)

4 RepliesI've only played and beaten the VoG once and never even played crota, and this is solely because people refuse to let me join them because I "lack experience". So finding people that are decent enough to help me through and teach me how to do them would be greatly appreciated. It's sounds like there's a few of you here, how come I can never find you though???

I've noticed this aswell, I wanted to do normal VoG for fun and a group invited me. They were all lv30s so I assumed they knew how VoG worked. But after they told me they never ran VoG before I ended up having to explain every part to then along with a strategy on how to beat said part..... They still couldn't beat atheon after I told them what to do haha. Everyone has to start somewhere though. I'm glad to see more players doing VoG for the first time

That's why even though I own the crota raid gear I wear my Vog raid set when farming vog. I feel it reinforces the fact that I at least have some experience in the vault. Plus its rarer now that most ppl scrapped it for shards when it became useless... I just can't let it go, I worked way to damn hard for this gear lol.

I was a lvl 31 whose completed the hard raid a few times and the normal countless times join a group of randoms (28s and 29s). A lot of guys commented on my level and gear. At the Templar part, before the relic, I was doing amazing work. Taking care of the entire left side (oracles, hobgoblins, ads) quickly and efficiently. So much so, a guy that died and was watching commented on it, complementing my skill. Then another guys like...."that's just because he has icebreaker..." I only use the icebreaker against the hobgoblins and my TDYK for everything else. Anyways, none of them would listen to my suggestions and we ended up dying 11 times in the gorgon maze...and not finishing off Atheon.

I've played VOG through in pieces, but never one sitting start to finish. Been trying for a while to get some of my friends to do that with me. It's only fair for all the times I was seventh in (lol). It'll happen. Have a great crew of peeps. Haven't tapped into CE yet at all, though...[i]I don't have time to explain why I don't have time to explain[/i].

1 ReplyHad a guy miss the jump down to the confluxes. Twice. I stuck around for far too long before I bailed when we couldn't get past the gorgons. They were still at it an hour and a half later. I have no problem with people not knowing what to do, but learn on normal. I don't pretend to be an expert, but too many people don't know what they are doing and really hold groups back.
