Please.
You guys and gals know what I'm talking about? When you load up the VOG and see a group full of 30s and 31s. You go to inspect their armor, and most of it is Vanguard Light 33.
"Have you done/beaten the hard raid before?"
"Yeah all the time!"
*15 minutes later*
"How do we kill the Templar?"
"What's a gorgon?"
"What side is Venus?"
"There's a Conflux at Gatekeeper?!"
"Wait, those Harpies explode?"
"Why am I detained?!"
And my favorite: "There's no revives on hard?"
People. Please be honest. Personally, I love explaining the mechanics of the VOG to new people. I love helping VOG virgins through it for the first time. It's awesome.
But please don't lie about it. If you say you know what you're doing, we won't explain it because we assume you've done it.
Now, what happens if you say you've never done it and get kicked from a group? Well that's a good thing. Because those people have no tolerance and patience (and time). You don't want to raid with people like that. You want a group that is forgiving, loose, chill, and can help others.
I love helping people. But please, don't lie. It makes it easier on everybody.
EDIT: Wow love the feedback! One thing I keep seeing over and over is asking me for my help. I'd love to(:
My Gamertag is: Classy Snowman
I play on the 360! Feel free to ask!

Say it's my second or third character? Is it acceptable to have vanguard 31 then?
-
What's VOG?
-
So how is my lever? I do pvp most of the time, I really can not cooperate with other guys, I am so nervous that I want kill everyone if the whole team did not run it's own way.
-
Honesty only gets you so far? I put countless messages through the app stating how many normal VOG completions I've done, that I lack experience in hard mode, that I don't want to be carried ( I want to learn) and I even put that I do not have an icebreaker or ghorn. And I get 0 love Can you recommend a post/website I should try On ps4 Thanks

this is what friends is for
-
Bruh... I feel your pain.
-
You still play VOG?
-
Teach me to hard.
-
XD I have an easy way of proving my victory in the hard raid, my helmet XD the ominous thing gives me and my friends the creeps though
-
I'm all geared up in Vanguard armor because- A.) It looks nice. B.) Ranks me from 29 and 3/4ths to 31. I've done the hard raid VoG once and I didn't die unless we were overwhelmed by harpies and even then I was never the first to go down. Please don't use the "They're in Vanguard armor, they must be noobs" logic. It's not always correct.
-
I really think the key is that people need to run it on normal first, multiple times. Detainment fields and no revives blows, but its when people don't understand the basic strategy, can't survive, and joke around way too much that I get frustrated. If I'm in your hard pickup run, I wanna get this thing done, I don't have time to dick around in VoG for hours. A good run on hard shouldn't take more than 90 minutes (and that's giving a lot of time for wipes). I got pulled into one group tonight by a friend and still needing Atheon on Hard I decided to give it a go. It took 30 minutes for them to wipe 3 times on confluxes (and the first time they didn't even know where the Spirit Bloom cave was). At that point I peaced out. I don't have the time, nor the patience for 3 hour VoG runs anymore.

Edited by Dookie Monsta: 12/22/2014 6:50:34 AMI LIVED IN THE VOG. I love that damn place. I've had a couple 30s in the fire team when I was 29 and teaching them atheon and the gorgon maze. One said he's the boss at vog, were fighting atheon and he gets left behind defending the portals and gets detained. He starts flipping shit saying the games glitching and he's never been detained on hard mode after his many "completions". I corrected him and it happened again and he's crying about it again. I tasted blood I tell you, about bit my tongue off
-
Agree don't lie. But I'll be honest I forget the revive thing on hard a lot lol
-
Edited by Just RNG Things: 12/22/2014 5:00:44 AM"I've beat the raid like 30 times man." *checks raid completions* *sees only 3 completions* "Oh well it felt like it cause the raid is so easy." *dies to the first Conflux on normal* At least I can proudly (kind of) say I've got over 50 raid completions across my characters (check the Grimoire not the actual toons, as the Titan and the Warlock are not the originals)
-
Any time someone says they have done the hard raid, then ask a stupid question I boot them. I don't do liars. I'll gladly teach you if you are honest.
-
Love this post. Every time since the update I've done it; the majority of players had clearly never done a hard raid. I have no problem with that, it's just if you don't take our veteran advice your not going to learn. So just admit it instead of acting insulted that I question your experience.
-
I finished vog for the first time the other day. I loved it. Even know I can't do Crota yet I'll still go back to do vog I know how to do it. But the relics screw me.. And trying to find a fireteam.. Sick of being kicked out becouse they end up giving up..
-
Finished hard today with a well oiled group finished Atheon in 10 minutes even though I don't know how to use the relic

This is the problem with the new Vanguard gear. People think that because they're 30/31 they can just jump into VoG hard and just stroll through it. Sorry but no, you need to learn the basic mechanics & strategies of the Raid on normal before you jump into hard mode. VoG is not a long strike, you need a decently coordinated Fireteam to complete it. I don't mind explaining things and taking new players through Normal, but you need to have SOME experience for hard mode. It's infinity better to be up front about your inexperienced and have someone walk you through encounters beforehand than to stay mute. Your inexperience will become very apparent during Templar, Gorgons, Gatekeeper, and Atheon. When you make obvious mistakes to experienced players the question will be raised.

Edited by iTz_johnspartan: 12/22/2014 5:31:16 AMWell they are probably afraid of you kicking them it happens Some people really don't care about others I mean imagine someone who is just going to try the Raid and people kick him because he hasn't done it before Thats not a very good first experience and it would be a shame for people to miss out on the Raid which is the best or one of the best things about Destiny So please to all you little shits out there don't kick newbies
-
I hear ya. Did the VoG raid for the first time last night (don't get to play that often), wasn't afraid to say so either. Everyone was more than happy to explain it and help out... And now I know
-
After doing CE several times, I jumped into VoG on hard and totally forgot about no revives. It happens!
-
I wear mostly the new vanguard gear, but I also know how to do the raid, and have honestly never cheesed Atheon. Not everyone is helpless at level 30-31.
-
Even though my gear is bought and i dont have much COMPLETIONS,i know what im doing lol.It gets really annoying when an "experienced" players dies because he went to punch a supplicant -_-
-
Just imagine having those questions messaged to you by someone who has dragons breath and everything except you and one other have a mic. /eyetwitch
-
I have both sets.. Hard raid gear and vanguard gear.. They say that probably not to get dropped
