The tiny fraction of players who happen to post on this forum are not a representative sample of the "public opinion."

  • Of course they are a tiny fraction but they ARE representative. Also this is a feedback forum which doesn't seem to "feed back". Deej doesn't even reply to threads anymore. It's almost like playing abandonware.

What makes you think they are representative? The kind of gamer who posts on a developer's forum is a specific category of gamer. Most gamers are not in that category (if they were, more people would be here). So the people here don't represent most gamers.

  • Umm..yes they are. The people who frequent here are also the ones that will play the game more and far longer than the others IF it's a good game. You're ass backwards

Based on what evidence? Because you say so? Another possibility is that people who have something to complain about are more likely to seek out the forums to do so, which leads to a disproportionate level of grumpy people, which leads to the false perception among others here that everyone is disappointed by the game.

Well you're wrong so this debate I'd a waste of my time. You're too dumb to see the obvious.

  • For every person who is unhappy here, there are countless more who don't bother posting on forums and more still who simply say nothing and just stop playing all together. More still who are only still playing until something else worthwhile comes out. Everyone I have played with feels let down by the DLC. Content that we were all super excited about just before it was released. There seems to be nothing but negative, to at best mediocre, reviews online regarding the DLC and tons of negative feedback on forums and in conversation with other players. I'm sure many people who have only recently begun playing are having a great time, but the vast majority of us who have completed the tiny amount of story content (ended up being less of a story than a Call Of Duty title) and have been playing since launch are disheartened at the moment with the direction the game has gone.

  • I'm not saying the DLC isn't disappointing to many people. I'm saying that when we talk about this stuff, we make a lot of really crappy assumptions based on poor logic and irrational thought. We should stick to making statements based on premises that we can actually verify, or else our statements mean nothing.

  • However, we are the ones who care enough to provide feedback. I like the game, stuff could be improved, and I've posted my suggestions in a constructive way, will continue to play either way. That is all.

Sounds like a sensible approach - keep it up! It's helpful to everyone involved.

  • Huh? I don't disagree with many of the criticisms. I do disagree with irrational behavior and false assumptions.

  • Well that so called tiny fraction is much much more vocal that your so called vast majority. So the people who are the most heard will get the changes.

82.5% of statistics are made up.
I made that up.
But seriously. The political parties here all have statisticians and economists who take the exact same figures and come up with different conclusions.

  • No they wont. You can cry and scream but in the end there are millions playing and enjoying the game as it is now.

  • You cannot conclude that because they are playing, they must be enjoying themselves. Maybe they still live under this weird delusion that after they finish all their grind, it will be worth it and they can start having fun.

  • Yea I enjoy it too. But I'm not happy with Bungie and how they are doing us and this game. The ones without any complaints are the ones who have just started playing.

  • You're right they won't because Bungie doesn't listen to anything or anyone about this game. That was prove by the weekly update this week if you can even call it an update. And there may be millions happy with mediocrity but there are also millions who won't accept it

The updates are written for an audience of all Destiny players, not just the ones on the forum. It appears on the site's home page, which makes it an especially public medium. They're not going to get into the weeds with that debate in that medium - that would be crazy. That's like getting into a fight with your girlfriend in front of your family at Thanksgiving dinner. And just because you call it mediocrity, that does not make it objectively so. It's possible to acknowledge a game's flaws and still love the experience of playing the game, and it seems like a lot of people are doing just that.

Much like the posts on this forum, those numbers also represent a certain type of feedback. Bungie has to account for all of those people, too. Criticism is important, but it's not the only data they have at their disposal when deciding how to prioritize their actions.
