George Clooney, Obama, and pretty much every American seems to think Sony shouldn't have pulled the plug. However..
1. None of them would take responsibility if Sony did release to theaters and those theaters were actually attacked. Sony would get sued.
2. None of them would take responsibility if Sony released it online and the hackers released more information, such as private information for thousands of Sony employees, movie scripts, etc.., causing irreparable damage to Sony Entertainment.
3. All of them would be up in arms if China, Russia, or North Korea released a movie where Obama was assassinated.
-blam!-ing idiots.

And have not seen Olympus has Fallen? And when they make a movie about the president they never use the actual president wanna know why? Because the damned guy changes all the time.
-
Olympus Has Fallen featured President Benjamin Asher, not President Barack Obama. That's the difference. You always use a fictitious character. Always. If China, Russia, or North Korea released a movie where Barack Obama was assassinated, the CIA and millions of Americans would be up in arms. I guarantee (Republican) members of Congress would openly call it an act of aggression, or even war.
-
The movie had North Korea invade the U.S. kill multiple cabinet members, citizens, and near instant death of the U.S. I'm pretty sure Americans didn't care. Sure a small faction might not like it I highly doubt millions. And North Korea pretty much made sony puss away 100 million plus. Are you really justifying this.

Edited by Death Depot: 12/20/2014 3:05:43 AMFictitious characters killed other fictitious characters, and it was produced by a studio in the US for audiences in the US. The US also came out on top in the end. If you hadn't noticed by now, the US almost always comes out on top in movies like that. The US doesn't lose. People die, sure, but they're fictitious people. They aren't actually representing real people in the real world like The Interview did with the leader of North Korea. If a studio in North Korea created a movie where President Barack Obama was assassinated, people would care. If Russia did it, people would care even more. There are differences in what I'm saying and what you're thinking.
-
And no one would care it's -blam!-ing North Korea who gives a -blam!- what movies they make. And if you can't name one North Korean movie you can't use that point either.
-
I'm fairly certain you didn't see the movie so your argument is invalid about your conclusion of the movie....

Edited by Nun: 12/20/2014 12:50:46 AMThey're already being sued???
-blam!-ing idiots
If Sony had released the movie in theaters (the few that would actually show it) and those theaters were attacked, Sony would be sued (along with the theaters). The same people who are calling out Sony for not releasing the movie would instead be calling out Sony for releasing the movie and putting movie-goers in harms way. That's how America works. Hypocritical assholes every which way.
-
That is exactly right. The theater shooting in Aurora, people sued the movie theater.

That's -blam!-ing stupid
