There are so many things that could be said about how Destiny is collapsing in on itself, but really, when it comes down to it, Destiny is simply a reflection of Bungie at this point in time.
More recycled enemies, more recycled environments. More hollow, empty promises of "story" and improving the game. The Dark Below is a testament to Bungie's dishonest and outright arrogant design philosophy.
Whoever is running the ship at Bungie studios, you've run the game, Bungie's reputation, everything, into the ground. Destiny's lead writer for the supposed "Ten-Year Plan" [i]left,[/i] and you fired one of the most iconic audio directors and music composers (a man who had been with Bungie for [b]twenty years![/b]) in gaming.
Apologists will defend you fervently (by the way, how is this new "loyal" community suiting you? You cast away the loyal fans you had for over a decade for people who believe vitriolic response is appropriate for anyone who disagrees with blind adoration and unwarranted praise), but you know as well as they do that your ship is sinking, and it is because of your own doing. [i]All of this could have been avoided.[/i] You started down a path, and now you are spiraling head-first in a nosedive. Your legacy was used to swindle your loyal fans, and now those same [i]people[/i] are turning their backs on you. The trust that sold Destiny will be rightfully absent at the release of Destiny 2. This isn't the Bungie that made Halo. I don't know what you are. I never would have imagined that I would be typing these words regarding Destiny or Bungie four months back.

The amount of times the word "meaningless" is said in this article cracks me up. OMG grinding in a video game, what a travesty, you want to not grind? Just maybe sign on and they give you some stuff for free to show they value you as a player? All and every game ever made could be argued to be meaningless in the grand scheme of things. It is a video game folks. When you piggy back on the bandwagon hype train of bitching about what could of been or should have been it is just a flat out joke. Ya, any time someone asks me about Destiny and if they should get it I tell them it's a good to great game at the core, but it's a totally annoying grindfest that I've unfortunately got myself into. I'd like people to play it but I wouldn't recommend they subject themselves to this amount of grinding

This is very true. Its the same with Ubisoft and Assassins Creed. I used to pre order every AC game but after the mess that was Unity, I will just wait for reviews. And if the review sucks, Im not buying it! I will do the same with Destiny 2. Think how many people will not pre order Destiny 2 now.

Destiny hasn't been out 4 months and we are already talking about Destiny 2. It's a shame that Destiny really is just a big beta test for Destiny 2.

This is the fisrt bungie game i ever owned because i fell for thw hype never again And to those who keep using the term "vocal minority" whatever makes you sleep better because you know deep down that is not the case all the points made by ign are in fact true Lack of meaningful story : you basically paid for a reskinned queens bounty Reused locations : you like grind the cosmodrome yes, here is more grinding the cosmodrome as a bonus we'll add the moon now that will spice things up If you dont care for raid then this dlc is not for you: dont play raid well the "story" could be completed in under one hour to one of the most dull endings. Only Eris will know of your hardwork according to her one of the most bad ass of the game Destiny suffers from big ideas but poor execution in every possible way.

remember kids, this is what happens if you team up with ACTIVI$ION! They did the exact same thing with Blizzard / Diablo 3. Activision don't release games "when they are ready". Activision set a deadline, and then push the game out the door whether it is finished or not. They use the reputation and popularity of an established company to make a huge amount of sales, but they still haven't realised that IF YOU RELEASE AN UNFINSHED GAME, GAMERS WILL NEVER BUY ONE OF YOUR PRODUCTS EVER AGAIN. They have single handedly ruined Bungie's reputation with this game, and it is partly Bungie's fault as well for going along with it. Exact same situation with Blizzard Entertainment. Very sad days for gamers. Games are no longer made for the fans, they are simply made to generate as much $$$ as possible with little regard to actual content / quality. I swear to god, I am NEVER going to support an Activision title ever again, after seeing what they have done to some of my favourite game developers...

Halo:CE was a rushed, unfinished game.........but it had a great story or atleast the great beginning of a great story. Destiny has nothing but smooth mechanics and pretty scenery.

It's a tried and tested game mechanic, where they try to balance it in a way that you are always looking forward to the next upgrade, but that it doesn't seem impossibly far away. Their level design is actually really good, the first time you go through an area the wrong way you realize how well it was built that it acts and looks and feels completely different, their map designers are really good imo. And they have yet to lie about anything. There is nothing dishonest about their game or dlc. It's fairly straightforward, it's simply that what you expect from a game (everything given to you instantly with no progression system, a particular narrative structure that you think you have the right to 'demand' they produce for you) is not what it is. You have misunderstood what the game was. And instead of admitting that you misunderstood what the game was, you blame them and cry about how they 'must' have meant it in the way you imagined, so when that wasn't the case it must magically mean it's their fault. It is not the type of game you wanted it to be. It does not have the narrative form you expected from it. Is it so hard to admit that? Instead, you make excuses, and make aggressive accusations to cover up your own failings. I feel like I'm watching someone on FOX news ignore a subject completely and just yell at the opposition as if the louder their voice the more valid their opinion.

There's no story content or other mechanical incentive to play the game, it's fun yes but the whole game is centered on grinding. Why do we grind? To get to max level. Why do we want to get max level? To Play the raid. Why do we play the raid? To grind it again and again until you get all the gear. Why do we get the best gear? Hell if I know because the vendors are selling even better gear now, so the raid is useless. How do we get the new better gear? By grinding all over again. Why do that? To play the new raid that's gonna be rendered useless next DLC. There's no point in destiny, no incentive beyond grinding for grinding's sake. [quote]And they have yet to lie about anything. Is it so hard to admit that? .[/quote] First of all, a proper reward system maintains risk and reward; we do not want everything handed to us, we want the rewards given to us proportional to the effort put into them, and for those rewards to have a proportional impact. Yet according to the game developers, players who grinded in the vault of glass for days on end, put in less effort than people who grinded vanguard points for the new DLC. The game has no risk reward, it is completely arbitrary in it's way of handing out rewards, which is why the best player in a crucible match can get nothing while the worst player gets an exotic. It uses the same mentality as Communism: absolutely equality regardless of effort. Secondly they did lied to us. They made explicit promises that they did not deliver on in the game, not the least of which includes the "rich cinematic storytelling comparable to Lord of the rings" they claimed was in the game. This game is an insult the Lord of the rings if that comparison is to be used. There are also other elements that they lied about, like locations mechanics planets and so on. Hell, they go on and on about this grandiose story in the ads and on the back of the bloody box yet there is no story! They insist they're fixing the story with The Dark Below... they added twelve lines of dialog and no cut-scenes... great job. Those twelve lines really added a lot to the story.
